The onboarding engineer is the engineers that is involved in the process of onboarding any new assets into the production environment of any of the service lines including GSO, Wintel and Glux.
Understand the operational environments for GSO, Wintel and Glux.
Build a server for both DCS and physical environment for Wintel and Glux
Perform installation activities remotely on equipment after physical installation onsite
Understand physical installation and advise engineers onsite of the requirements and design
Configure a storage device according to engineering standards
Prepare and provision storage
Perform logical decommissioning for all equipment
Perform data migration
Understand technical problems
Provide and perform remediation,
Collaborate with engineering
Provide the details of complex problems to the engineering team for further resolution if need be.
Perform testing on new approaches, scripts and products and provide input to engineering
Understand and be able to perform all required acceptance checks
Assist with other onboarding activities as and when required.
Collect further needed data from customer and clarify customer inquiries with regards to the build and configuration.
Communicate build, installation and configuration of equipment to the customer.
Update all records accordingly in TSAM, DFM and other tools regularly and as required.
Train level 1 engineers
Provide advice on onboarding projects technical requirements
Develop and maintain technical documentation for the team as per requirement.
Needs to attend team meetings and follow team objectives
Needs to contribute to general improvement of the team
Must be able to collect data and formulate technical problems which can be communicated to engineering, and be able to apply engineering advice to problems at hand
Be able and willing to initiate and maintain continuous knowledge transfer
Be able to improve and unify processes
