ICT Infrastructure Manager (Sanger) - Cambridgeshire

Salary range is 37,377 to 47,553 per anum dependent on experience. A market supplement of 7154 per annum (non -pensionable) may also be available; this is dependent on skills and experience. This is offered in recognition of the current market value of certain skills and technologies and will therefore be subject to review.

In the first instance, this is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ICT Infrastructure Manager to join the Systems Support Team. You will take a technical lead in the development of the Institute's IT infrastructure and provide direction for a team of infrastructure engineers. As the Campus ICT Infrastructure Manager you will be leading the activities of the IMT group in the provision of infrastructure services and architect infrastructure solutions. Collaborating as appropriate with other systems support teams on the solution design, implementation and lifecycle of infrastructure services. Including requirements analysis, hardware and software specification development, production and implementation of solutions and the ongoing maintenance to support scientific & campus projects. This role will provide the successful candidate with the challenge of designing and developing IT infrastructure that underpins the scientific programmes and campus tenant requirements.

Essential Skills

-Experience with various virtualisation technologies, preferably VMware, and broad understanding of the Private, Public and Hybrid Cloud
-Proven experience designing, integrating and maintaining high-performance Windows/Linux-based IT systems, including storage and networks
-Experience with installation and management of VMware ESX VMware/Vsphere
-Proven IT operations, project management and prioritisation skills (including DR/BCP)
-Strong mentor and a good team player. A proactive, motivated and structured attitude and approach is essential
-Technically proficient to be able to challenge and influence technical discussions
-Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts, both verbally and in writing
-Experience in delivery of Robust and Scalable Virtualised systems
-Demonstrable experience in Architecture of complete solutions spanning a variety of groups
-Demonstrable experience in presenting various infrastructure options to technical and non-technical groups
-Highly developed communication skills with experience of dealing with people at all levels successfully
-Work independently within managerial direction
-Strategic thinking skills with Proven ability to be able to deliver customer specifications
-Strong people management skills
-Experience in successfully managing change
-Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapting when priorities change
-Dynamic individual with proven experience in delivering change and innovation
-Demonstrable evidence of influencing positive change within an infrastructure environment
-A high level of experience is required in multiple computer operating systems

Ideal Skills

-Detailed knowledge of high availability computer systems, including clustered services
-Varied background in data communications, routers, switches, VoIP, Load balancers, Wireless, and IP Telephony. Knowledge of monitoring and management platforms and standards
-Set objectives and KPIs, monitor progress and if necessary take corrective action to bring plans back on track, manage the performance of both self and reports
-Experience of ITSM framework such as ITIL
-Experience of Project Management framework such as PRINCE2,APM
