Chief Accountant

who will bring the accounting function, currently handled by an external firm, in-house and then oversee it.

What the tasks are:

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and local statutory/tax regulations
• Support improvements in accounting and control processes, including active participation in the implementation of the new ERP system
• Prepare financial and statistical reports to relevant authorities and institutions
• Prepare the tax returns and communicate with tax authorities
• Overview and control the Hungarian statutory reporting. Prepare the Financial Statements and coordinate the cooperation with statutory, tax, customs, external and internal auditors
• Ensure the timely and accurate monthly accounting, closing and internal reporting in accordance with policies, closing schedule and company guidelines. Perform GL account reconciliations
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Fixed asset accounting.
• Cooperate with the Finance Manager and the local & central Finance Team in finance and accounting projects

What you’ll need to succeed in this role:

• Active registered chartered accountant licence
• Experience in accounting at least 5+ years
• Preferably experience as Chief Accountant / Senior Accountant for at least 3 years
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Experience with process improvement, automation, or financial system transitions is a plus
