Pozíció leírása / Job description
Our partner is bringing their impressive global success story to Hungary, building a brand-new Global Business Center in Budapest. They are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to support operational excellence and scalable growth.
They offer a unique environment that prioritizes an inclusive culture and service excellence from day one. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technology within a collaborative, supportive, and social international team. It is a rare chance to join a community that values teamwork, celebrates success, and genuinely enjoys working together to build a fresh operation.
Database Platform Management
- Oversee the administration, configuration, and optimisation of core database environments including Snowflake, SQL Server, and related cloud data services, while helping shape their ongoing evolution as the platform architecture matures.
-
Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of database systems, adapting designs and standards as new components are introduced or existing ones are reworked.
-
Implement and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery processes, revisiting these as the underlying architecture changes.
-
Monitor system health, capacity, and performance, proactively addressing issues before they impact operations.
-
Maintain living documentation for database architecture, configurations, and operational procedures - expected to change as decisions are finalised and revisited.
Data Integration & Pipeline Development
-
Manage and enhance data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, with openness to adopting or transitioning to alternative tools as the integration strategy develops.
-
Develop, maintain, and optimise ETL/ELT processes feeding downstream systems such as Pigment, Sage, and other business applications, adjusting approach as architectural direction is confirmed.
-
Ensure data flows are secure, efficient, and aligned with architectural standards - and help define those standards where they are not yet settled.
-
Troubleshoot integration issues and implement long-term fixes, balancing quick wins against the direction of future architecture.
-
Collaborate with application owners and the wider technology team to design new integrations, remaining flexible as business needs and platform decisions evolve in parallel.
Data Quality, Governance & Security
-
Enforce data governance standards, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across database environments, contributing to governance frameworks that are still being built out.
-
Implement security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and monitoring of data usage.
-
Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to regulatory and organisational data policies, flagging where policy needs to catch up with a changing architecture.
-
Support data stewardship activities by providing guidance on data definitions, lineage, and quality rules.
-
Partner with InfoSec teams to manage vulnerabilities and maintain secure data operations.
Continuous Improvement & Solution Development
-
Identify opportunities to modernise and streamline database and integration processes, and play an active role in shaping architectural decisions that are still open.
-
Lead enhancements to data models, schemas, and storage strategies, expecting these to iterate as requirements and platform choices firm up.
-
Evaluate new tools, technologies, and methods, bringing informed recommendations to architecture discussions rather than assuming a fixed toolset.
-
Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
-
Support the design and rollout of new data capabilities, comfortable working from evolving or partial specifications.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
-
Work closely with business teams to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions, adapting recommendations as the platform direction develops.
-
Provide technical expertise and support to analysts, developers, and application owners, acting as a steady point of contact through periods of architectural change.
-
Communicate system changes, impacts, and timelines clearly to stakeholders, including where decisions are still in flux.
-
Coordinate with vendors and external partners on platform upgrades, troubleshooting, and best practices.
-
Deliver training or guidance to internal teams on database usage, integrations, and data processes, updating this as approaches change.
