We are looking for a Furnace and Batch Supervisor to join our Production Team; which is located in Kaposvár.
- Significant experience in glass industry, especially in glass packaging (flat glass could be good as well)
- experience with all types of glass products (different colours), most important requirements for glass production
- Bachelor degree engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Material or Chemical Engineering
- strong English language skills
- previous experience in guiding engineers and technicians
Job description:
Batch Department Responsibilities
- Ensure all facilities and equipment in the batch department operate without disrupting production by coordinating necessary maintenance and repair work with Engineering Services and Quality Departments.
- Take necessary measures to determine and implement batch working conditions.
- Evaluate shift reports and daily batch operation reports; initiate and follow up on necessary actions based on these evaluations.
- Perform all work and calculations related to batch preparation; convert these into daily, monthly, and yearly tables and diagrams using a PC.
- Work on measures and innovations (such as applying SPC techniques) to increase efficiency and improve quality.
- Interpret glass analysis, light transmittance, and grain values provided by the Research Department; use this to verify raw material weights and staff performance, and ensure necessary corrections are made.
- Ensure maintenance and calibration of scales in the batch area.
- Send samples to the Research Department when necessary and prepare batch and melange based on analysis results, operating conditions, and physical appearance of the glass.
- Prepare and implement the color change program.
- Collaborate with the Material Warehouse Chief to ensure proper storage, protection, and stock level tracking of raw materials.
- Determine monthly raw material and UVP consumption by year and distribute to relevant departments.
- Provide suggestions and support for new facility and modernization projects related to the batch department.
- Conduct or arrange sieve analysis and moisture control for raw material inspection and recording.
- Record and interpret chemical analysis results of raw materials from the Research Department in a PC environment.
Furnace Department Responsibilities
- Ensure all furnace-related facilities and equipment operate without disrupting production by coordinating necessary maintenance and repair work with Engineering Services and Quality Departments.
- Take necessary measures to determine and implement furnace working conditions.
- Evaluate the Furnace-Forehearth-Cooling Furnace Control Form; initiate and follow up on necessary actions based on these evaluations.
- Perform all work and calculations related to furnace operating conditions (temperature, air-fuel ratio, internal pressure, glass level, etc.); determine and maintain a regime that ensures maximum heat economy.
- Work on measures and innovations to increase efficiency and improve quality.
- Interpret color values of amber and clear glass, batch data, and sand moisture values; investigate whether issues are related to furnace operation and take prompt corrective actions.
- Identify necessary occupational safety measures during personnel operations and ensure their implementation.
- Continuously inspect the furnace refractory structure and steel construction; ensure immediate repair of any damage.
- Monitor stock levels of spare parts and materials related to the furnace; handle ordering and purchasing processes.
- Manage hot and cold repairs of furnace and forehearth refractory structures; ensure material supply, stock control, planning, and supervision of repair work.
- Ensure proper heating of newly built furnaces according to heating graphs and procedures.
General Responsibilities
- Take necessary measures to minimize expenses.
- Select new hires and coordinate their training with the Training Department.
- Prepare the annual budget for the department and interpret budget control reports.
- Be available to come to the factory outside working hours when called to resolve department-related issues.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Authorized to initiate, monitor, and conclude corrective actions.
- Responsible for preparing the list of calibration devices and ensuring their calibration.
- Ensure implementation of all documents related to current and future management systems within the scope of responsibility; follow written or verbal instructions from supervisors and report any non-compliance to a superior.
- Work with awareness and sensitivity to management systems, fulfilling all responsibilities outlined in instructions and supervisor directives.
- Participate in all improvement activities aligned with the principle of “continuous improvement” in our policy.
- Comply with rules to ensure hygiene of the product and work environment.
- Follow and participate in Occupational Health and Safety rules and instructions; report unsafe conditions and inform relevant parties.
- Keep only necessary materials and equipment in the workplace, in their designated places; maintain cleanliness and order of the environment, materials, and equipment, and develop habits to ensure continuity.
- Report food safety hazards to a superior.
- Apply and enforce GMP and hygiene rules and requirements.
- Work in compliance with Environmental Management System policies, objectives, procedures, instructions, and processes approved by management; play a role in monitoring, controlling, measuring, and evaluating activities; follow all instructions given by the supervisor or relevant management representative within the scope of EMS.
