Job title: Estates Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Estates and Facilities

Overall Responsibilities:
- To identify and submit funding applications to underpin capital and refurbishment programmes
- To consider regulatory requirements in connection to environmental and sustainable legislation and coordinate the integration of these requirements into College procedures, products, services and
operations as appropriate
- To promote sustainability awareness throughout the College to bring about change in attitudes and behaviour in both staff and students
- To monitor energy use and carbon emissions across the College and to raise the profile of energy conservation

Main Duties:

Grant Funding

1. To maintain a register of grant opportunities, liaising with appropriate staff in order to prepare effective and persuasive bids

2. To produce and submit proposals on possible funding options, whether local, national or European for the College to pursue based on good research of the funding criteria

3. To develop and maintain a library of data and document templates to act as a reference point for other staff involved in any bid process to ensure a unified and consistent approach to proposals

4. To project manage the grant funding as required

5. To identify College schemes to best fit grant proposals, widening the opportunities to secure grant income for the College

Energy Monitoring
6. To co-ordinate utility contracts to maximise procurement efficiencies

7. To ensure accurate and current energy statistics are maintained, review and report on energy consumption, benchmark and make recommendations

8. To check on energy requirements by users and of objects/equipment with high energy consumption and propose lower cost/energy alternatives

9. To encourage the use of renewables/sustainable energy resources.

10. To monitor carbon emissions in line with the government requirements under the CRC (Carbon Reduction Commitment) energy efficiency scheme and make recommendations

11. To manage the DEC (Display Energy Certificate) renewal process.

12. To prepare policies for energy, travel, waste and sustainable construction

13. To act as the Travel Plan Co-ordinator for the College and regularly review/update the data and the plan and set up regular meetings with both internal and external stakeholders

14. To keep up to date with relevant legislation and provide advice on compliance with Environmental and Sustainability regulatory and policy requirements

15. To deliver sustainability awareness and energy efficiency campaigns and assist small businesses and the local community

16. To provide technical advice and support to Estates & Facilities on new build and major refurbishment projects and sustainable construction

17. To consult with suppliers and contractors to keep up to date with improvements in the sustainability performance of products and services and make proposals for improvements

18. To carry out any other duties or projects assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications/ Training


- Level 5 qualification in relevant subject
- English and mathematics or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent or willingness to achieve English and mathematics Level 2 within one year

- An appropriate professional qualification
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline - Environmental Science, Sustainable Development or other related subject
- Customer services training
- Safeguarding training
- Equality and diversity training
- ECDL or ITQ Level 2 or equivalent

Knowledge/ Experience


- Experience of writing and delivering successful funding applications
- Experience in the field of sustainability
- Working knowledge of using Microsoft office applications
- Experience of identifying and recommending improvements to support Estates and Sustainability
- Proven successfully experience in implementing recommended improvements
- Experience of working in a regulatory environment
- Experience of using and interpreting complex data

- Experience of working with the FE/HE sector
- Knowledge of BMS systems
- Understanding of project
- Experience of procuring utility contracts
- Experience of working effectively in a customer focussed environment

Special Requirements

- Evidence of recent continual professional development
