We are currently recruiting for an Endoscopy Service Manager

This role is based at our Endoscopy Centre. The centre offers a full range of upper and lower GI Endoscopic investigations and treatments, including Endoscopic Ultrasound. A dedicated X-ray screening room also supports the area allowing consultants to accurately perform new and often intricate techniques.

Three Endoscopy suites are equipped with the very latest in videoscopy technology which provides the operators with high definition image capture, including still photography of procedures undertaken. An integrated patient reporting and audit software system supports all our endoscopy procedures ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. Detailed reports, with high definition images are available in a number of formats, within minutes of the procedure.

The centre has 12 specifically designed en-suite recovery bays which have been built in a traditional open style recovery ward; increasing privacy, cleanliness and comfort for each patient.The unit has a team approach, bringing together for the benefit of patients, the combined experience of consultants specialising in upper and lower gastro intestinal conditions together with specialists in endoscopy.

Job Description

As the Endoscopy Service Manager you will provide nursing leadership and direction for all nursing staff in the department and act as a point of contact for advice and expertise on all matters relating to professional nursing issues providing clinical leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers nurses within the department. You will also be responsible for effectively managing the financial resources, ensuring the optimal deployment of the nursing workforce to ensure high-quality patient care is delivered and monitored. You will ensure the highest standards of practice and care through effective monitoring of own and others' clinical competencies, participating in departmental policy making, internal and external audits, taking a lead role in BSG and JAG Accreditation

This is a full time role working 37.5hrs per week - flexibility required

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance, support and coaching to the charge nurse / ward sister and nursing team to promote and enable effective change management and strength leadership skills
  • Act as a role model for nurses in the designated clinical area, promoting and demonstrating the standards of care and behaviour expected, at all times exhibiting high standards of professional behaviour.
  • Promote and maintain an evidence based practice culture for nursing staff including the wide dissemination of evidence.
  • Responsible for monitoring and improving key performance indicators.
  • Lead on nursing initiatives as requested.
  • Represent the department at forums and meetings as requested.
  • Budget holder for department and in charge of DFRs and Accruals and monitoring departmental finance.
  • To review and ensure that staff establishments and skill mix are appropriate to meet clinical demands.
  • To be a visible, accessible and assertive figure to whom staff and users can turn to for assistance, advice and support.
  • Ensure that appropriate objectives and personal development plans are developed for all line reports. Accept responsibility for ensuring there is an appraisal system for all staff within the unit and monitor adherence to the system.
Skills & Experience
  • Registered Nurse Level 1
  • UKCC registration and PREP requirements
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Extensive post registration experience
  • Experience at band 7
  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
  • Evidence of updating clinical skills/knowledge
  • Evidence of professional and personal development
