As a result of recent growth and continuing opportunity in the UK and beyond, PwC is seeking an Assistant Director to join its successful, fast growing UK Energy Corporate Finance team.
The team provides a full spectrum of independent Corporate Finance M&A; services including business acquisitions, disposals, capital raisings, strategic options reviews and valuations to private shareholders, corporates and financial institutions. The team operates across the oil and gas and renewables sectors with a focus on oilfield services but with increasing exposure to oil and gas exploration and production and renewable energy sector transactions.
The role provides an exceptional opportunity to move into a senior role in a high performing team benefiting from access to the wider PwC global Oil and Gas industry group of over 3,000 specialists. Energy is a priority growth sector across our Deals businesses and the firm and this role represents an opportunity to directly contribute to this growth and business success. Some travel within the UK, Europe and farther afield can be expected.
About the role
Working as an Assistant Director within the team, the role will involve the following:
• Taking ownership of internal and external networks and client relationships
• Leading the preparation and delivery of key proposals and presentations for new business
• Overseeing and managing the execution of transactions, including planning our approach and taking day-to-day responsibility for execution through to completion
• Acting as the key point of contact for clients on particular transactions
• Coaching and developing junior staff
• Reviewing financial models and valuations, together with associated commentary
• Taking a leadership role on business strategy development and team building
We would expect interested applicants to be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
• Significant corporate finance M&A; experience. This will likely have been gained either through working in an investment bank, corporate M&A; function, boutique advisory firm, private equity house, strategy consultancy or "Big 4" professional services firm
• Experience within the oil and gas and/or wider energy sector and a clear understanding of the sector value chain and business dynamics
• A strong understanding of transaction structures including Private Equity and leveraged finance
• Experience of successfully leading transaction project teams on a day to day basis, developing team members and working collaboratively
• Strong financial modelling capability and experience
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to think laterally
• Good attention to detail combined with ability to see the big picture
• Ability to work accurately under time pressure and manage multiple commitments
• Ability to convert analysis into various outputs to present results in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to synthesise robust arguments and defend them in an articulate manner
• Excellent client facing skills and history of significant client exposure
• Evidence of existing network of client relationships and track record of revenue generation
