Halo is PwC's new proprietary data auditing tool for the Global Assurance practice. It works as a problem-solving engine that combines smart technology with human interpretation to deliver information that can be trusted. When combined with our deep understanding of our clients, the visualisations and proprietary algorithms aid the exploration and understanding of data and make it easier to spot patterns and trends. Halo for the audit will improve quality, provides insight and improves people experience.
The first step in the Halo journey is Journal Analyser. Journals are a key part of the audit and are often the missing link between our testing and financial statements. Many of our clients have high volumes of journals so it can be difficult to identify the large and unusual journals to test. Halo makes it easier for the audit team to identify the journals which are truly unusual and start the process of auditing the journals.
We are currently seeking a high performing senior associate to join our team on secondment for 12 - 18 months in order to support both the Global Halo project and the UK Halo Centre of Excellence. Applicants should have experience in using ACL or SQL and/or Data Assurance experience.
The successful candidate will:
• Become an expert in Halo Journal Analyser, including the extract, transformation and load of data, operation of the application and export of the results, and be able to advise teams in the practice accordingly. • Prepare and manage a central repository of test data for use in Halo application development (involves anonymising and manipulating data and creating test variations) • Manage project risk by cleansing and removing redundant test data • Manage user access to Halo development servers and various Halo applications (Dev/QA/Production environments) • Grant access to Qlikview licences via Collection Builder • Work with individual application managers and testing teams to understand and meet their data requirements • Manage the Halo data load process for the Global Halo development team, and log any bugs which arise during this process (and retest with data once a fix has been applied) • Apply bug fixes (hot fixes) for Halo applications • Investigate and resolve server errors • Give support to the UK Data Assurance Champs in investigating and resolving data queries on audit engagements where Halo is used • Participate in training and sharing knowledge on data-related Halo 'hot topics' both within Assurance Transformation and across the Halo and Data Assurance Champs networks
Successful candidates will have:
• ACL or SQL skills are highly recommended. • Data Assurance experience advantageous. • A good aptitude for IT, in particular Microsoft Excel, and an ability to quickly understand new software applications • Ability to both work with and influence senior stakeholders • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Ability to work under own initiative • An accounting qualification, with experience in either Risk Assurance and/or Financial Statement Audit
