Situated on the East coast of England, Hull is a vibrant and youthful city, which is home to the Humber Bridge, (the fifth largest single span suspension bridge in the world) and the Deep (the world's largest submarium). The Marina area is currently undergoing significant redevelopment and was the starting point for the Clipper 09-10 round the world yacht race in September 2009. Hull is also the proud owner of the region's only premiership football team, and the city is home to two rugby league teams and an ice hockey team. The city has also been named City of Culture 2017.
Hull has a long history of trading with Scandinavian, Baltic and European port cities, and is regarded as a major Gateway to Europe. It is a key port on the East Coast, generating business within the manufacturing sector, especially fish, timber and chemicals.

The Hull and Humber region is well placed to harness the potential of the UK's future energy requirements, and it is likely that renewable sources such as wind and tidal power will have a major role to play. With Siemens and ABP recently announcing a £310m investment in a wind turbine manufacturing facility in Hull and Able UK planning to spend £450m on a marine energy and logistics park near Immingham on the South Bank, there is real momentum behind the sector in the region.
Whilst housing a busy city centre, Hull is also only a stone's throw away from the beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds and the very popular East Coast seaside resorts.

The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Hull office forms an integral part of our Northern practice which as a whole has an annual fee income of over £160 million and employs around 2,000 people across all the main business streams. There are circa 500 Assurance client service staff. The region contains the most important commercial and financial centres outside the Capital and we are one of the largest professional services advisory firms in the area.
The Hull office client base is growing and is represented in a diverse number of sectors including consumer and industrial products, food manufacturing, engineering industries, construction and property investment and technology. Who we are looking forA talented, ambitious individual who has experience of providing audit services to SME's. Whilst this might be with a Big 4 background, it could also be with a medium-sized or small, independent practice.
About the role
You will lead teams to provide external audit services to a portfolio of clients, across a variety of different industry sectors. Tasks will include managing the staffing of the job, the financial performance and ensuring that key deadlines are achieved.
A key aspect will be managing work undertaken in connection with external audits, reporting directly to a partner or director. Other important responsibilities will include:
• Leading of internal and external team and client meetings.
• Interviews with key client contacts throughout the delivery process.
• Managing the personal and professional training and development of your team.
We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualifications:
• CA / ACCA qualified or equivalent
• Experience of working with IFRS and UK GAAP
• Experience of management of the audit from planning to supervision and review of the process
• Flexibility in your approach to meeting goals as part of the team
• Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients at all levels
• A proven track record of establishing and maintaining strong relationships
• A proactive approach to problem solving and delivering client solutions
