Customs Leader

Your new role
As a Senior Customs Manager, you will be responsible for leading customs operations and ensuring full compliance with national and EU regulations. Your tasks will include:

  • Managing customs policy operations and trade compliance KPIs
  • Obtaining customs authorizations (Standard/Simplified Procedures, Special Use, AEO)
  • Overseeing daily import/export customs clearance processes
  • Supervising and optimizing relationships with customs brokers
  • Monitoring shipment status and ensuring timely customs clearance
  • Reviewing and approving import/export documentation
  • Maintaining accurate customs master data and compliance reports
  • Developing and enforcing customs regulations and procedures
  • Leading AEO certification processes
  • Driving continuous improvement in customs procedures
  • Resolving customs-related issues and providing regulatory guidance
  • Conducting internal customs audits and implementing corrective actions
  • Applying special customs provisions (e.g. duty reliefs, trade programs)
  • Reviewing and approving customs broker costs and payments
  • Ensuring full compliance with all customs regulations


What you'll need to succeed

  • University degree in international trade, logistics, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in customs operations
  • Strong knowledge of EU and Hungarian customs regulations
  • Expertise in:
    • HS tariff classification
    • Origin certification procedures
    • AEO certification processes
    • Customs warehouse operations (preferred)
  • Fluent in English and Hungarian
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong team player with cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Willingness to work on-site in Debrecen



Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the automotive industry (Tier 1 supplier)
  • Familiarity with automotive customer portals
  • Background in battery manufacturing
