The role of the Independent Assessor within the Independent Assessment, Challenge and Oversight function (IACO) is to provide independent audit and challenge to the NNB project processes. The IACO function ensures that the safety processes are founded on good International standards, national and internal policies on the areas of Nuclear Safety, Environment, Health and Safety, Security and Quality. This function reports to the Senior Management Team through the IACO Manager and Head of Assurance to the Safety Director. The main objective is to ensure the robustness of the companies arrangement to meets its commitments.
This post supports the Head of Assurance responsibilities for compliance with business governance.

The post holder will support site licence and future operations by continuing to support the development of the NNB GenCo.. assessment process including developing the necessary documentation for the implementation of independent challenge and oversight

Support the IACO Manager in the development and achievement of all work programmes. This includes forward planning of resources and the provision of a short, medium site intervention plans.

The post holder will be required to assist in the development of the overall IACO assurance programme and will have key targets within other project work programmes.

The post holder will ensure that a high standard of health, safety, quality, security and environment management prevails throughout all areas and especially at site and that performance is maintained within parameters defined by the NNB Genco Executive.
This post does not have any direct nuclear safety responsibilities ("roles") which could have a significant impact on nuclear safety through the activities form a part of the company arrangements to ensure defence in depth within the organisation to ensure that safety and environmental requirements, responsibilities and processes are complied with.

Degree qualified in a related discipline.
• Experience within the Nuclear Industry in an assurance role
• Experience of Health and Safety, Environmental, Security assessment and auditing highly desirable
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Awareness of internal and external standards and procedures
• Proven track record of assurance in a practical environment.
