Confidence, credibility, a real talent for communication - those are the qualities that will make you a natural choice for these absorbing new roles with the GMC.

We're the UK's independent regulator of doctors. It's our job to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine by doctors.

We want to proactively engage more closely with our key interest groups, such as patient groups, groups of doctors and students. That's where you come in. Working remotely, you'll pull out all the stops to raise our profile and build lasting relationships with each of them at a local level - supported by a national team of colleagues.

Most of your time will be spent making presentations and helping to engage and consult on our ethical guidance and standards. You will be seeking out every possible opportunity to enhance our reputation and educate and inform our key interest groups. But, effective communication is a two way business. So at the same time, you'll be gathering and feeding back intelligence and opinion from these key interest groups and the healthcare environment in which they work and live - allowing us to shape future policies to better meet their needs. Therefore, high on your agenda will be a requirement to write progress and status updates to share your insight and that of our key interest groups.

You'll need excellent presentation skills and a clear, engaging communication style. It's also important that you can handle challenges well and keep a cool head under pressure. A gifted networker and relationship builder, you'll have proven intellectual strength and be a self-starter, working within a defined region, to develop and maintain lasting relationships.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant contribution as the GMC continues to be more proactive and outward facing. You'll enjoy an attractive package that includes a final salary pension scheme, private medical insurance and a generous holiday allowance. The GMC is also committed to the development of its staff.
