|Description of position:||To be part of a team designing new RTL firmware functionality for highly complex video compression products, from initial concept to final release.|
|Duties:||•Development of new and novel RTL firmware code to meet agreed specifications.
•To provide functionality or feature enhancements to existing code and to engineer solutions to design problems identified by customers or internal departments.
•Implementing and testing bug fixes and releasing production or customer specific versions in accordance with company standards and methodologies.
•The post is a firmware role for programmable logic, though there will be occasions where associated changes to existing software and hardware may be required, so an understanding of these areas will be a distinct advantage.
•A good degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent, with ideally 2 or more years experience in a high-tech RTL development environment.
•VHDL coding and simulation using one of the mainstream RTL simulators.
•Knowledge of FPGA architectures, and an understanding of how to make best use of the resources available.
•Experience with tools for RTL development
•Understanding of timing reports, pin-out considerations, power reduction and clock domain crossing techniques.
•Demonstrable experience in complex problem solving with the ability to work with complex legacy code.
•C coding, (for simulation purposes)
•Experience with tools for revision control.
•Knowledge of scripting languages, (TCL / Perl)
•Knowledge of digital video and audio standards, video compression techniques, IP protocols and networking and SNMP.
