We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager to join the Transfer Pricing team in London Region Tax.
Candidates will be considered with prior transfer pricing or transfer pricing of debt experience.
The team is one of the fastest growing regional teams in PwC with year to date revenue growth of circa 33% which brings with it excellent personal development and reward opportunities for high performing individuals. We currently comprise 18 FTE transfer pricing specialists with aspirations to grow headcount significantly to meet stretch revenue growth targets.
We have an exciting and diverse client base including listed, private equity backed, and privately owned companies and inbound groups which operate across a range of industries such as fast moving consumer goods, engineering, technology, pharmaceutical and retail.
The candidate will be working mainly in our Embankment Place office but will also work with staff in our other offices around the country which may travel. There is also likely to be a requirement to visit client sites in the UK and possibly abroad.
About the role
Work within the Transfer Pricing Team is typically project based and varied in nature including involvement with all types of intercompany transactions such as products, services, IP and debt.
Projects may include:
• Working with clients and helping them to manage their transfer pricing risk
• Undertaking transfer pricing planning and pricing implementation
• Involvement in and coordination of European and global transfer pricing engagements working with specialists across our global network
• Supporting companies through all elements of business change and value chain transformation (e.g. transfer of manufacturing to low cost jurisdictions, implementation of centralised or principal structures)
• Helping clients to determine the appropriate capital structures which could be supported at arm's length
• Assisting clients to determine the appropriate interest rate which should be charged on intra-group funding arrangements
• Preparation and negotiation of Advance Thin Capitalisation Agreements and Advance Pricing Agreements on behalf of clients
• Assisting clients with tax audits from HMRC and transfer pricing defence strategies; and
• Preparation of transfer pricing documentation for planning or compliance purposes (including statistical analysis)
The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Proactively managing a portfolio of clients and projects including all aspects of financial and risk management
• Establishing effective working relationships with clients and the tax relationship teams within LRT
• Contributing to the development of personal and team knowledge.
• Building business through targeting (internal and external)
• Establishing own network of contacts across London Region Tax and wider; e.g. M&A; tax, to identify business development opportunities
• Working closely with Private Equity, Debt Advisory and M&A; tax and provide financial transfer pricing advice in a deal based environment; this may include working closely with the deal teams, PE Houses and portfolio companies
• Work within a team, reporting to a partner or director with support from junior resources
• Assist in developing juniors to ensure growth of the team
• Keeping up-to-date with local and national business and economic issues that might potentially impact on clients and /or their industry
• Contributing to the strategy within the team

We are looking for someone with excellent technical (general corporate tax as a minimum) and interpersonal skills.
In addition to a sound academic background, it is likely that the successful candidate will have proven relevant experience advising multinational clients on transfer pricing or other corporate tax or related international issues. In particular, we are looking for:
• Candidates should ideally have prior transfer pricing and, in particular, transfer pricing of debt experience.
• Training, including on the job learning, will be provided to enable the successful candidate to further develop their skill base
• A self - starter who as the ability to simultaneuosly manage a variety of projects • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills both with external clients and other tax (and non-tax) teams within PwC in order to maximise the effectiveness of delivery
• The technical expertise to devise innovative and practical solutions to client problems and to share knowledge with the rest of the team members
• Proven experience of business development and marketing - through networking and obtaining referrals, and using your awareness of broader corporate tax issues to cross sell the firm's other divisions;
• An effective delegator, strong at coaching junior staff
• Demonstrable ability to organise, prioritise and plan workloads.
The candidate will be working mainly in our Embankment Place office, but will also work with staff in our other offices around the country, which may require occasional visits to our other offices. There will also be a requirement to visit client sites in the UK on a regular basis. Some projects may require overseas travel.
