PwC is looking for a researcher at Senior Manager, Manager or Senior Associate grade to work on a long-term, full time engagement for our client the Information Security Forum (ISF). The successful candidate will lead delivery of major ISF research projects, and play a key role supporting other projects. These projects run to a fixed six-month schedule, on a set topic as chosen by ISF Members, and require:
• Starting from scratch, defining the topic's scope and deliverables
• Consulting with experts to develop a working model
• Scheduling and delivering Member workshops (in the UK, Europe, North America and via the web) to test, validate and refine the model and project deliverables
• Reporting frequently on the model and its storyboard to the quality circle
• Managing the project's web presence
• Reporting weekly to the project management office on the project status, budget and risks
• Creating all mandatory deliverables (writing the 30-50 page report, helping write the marketing executive summary, performing implementation support, and developing training)
• Creating all optional deliverables (case studies, assessment tools, etc.).
This is a dynamic team and as responsibilities shift, the role may also involve:
• Researching and writing briefing papers and point-of-view documents
• Assisting with the development and maintenance of other ISF deliverables such as the Information Risk Analysis Methodology (IRAM) or Standard of Good Practice for Information Security
• Assisting with account management for ISF Members world-wide
• Other duties that support the ISF's delivery of Member value (such as public presentations, liaison with other organisations, or sales support)
About the role

There is occasional travel, and considerable exposure to the ISF's 360 global member organisations (all of the FTSE 10 and most of the FTSE 20 are ISF Members). The ISF () is an independent, not-for-profit association of leading organisations dedicated to clarifying and resolving key issues in information security and developing security solutions that meet the business needs of its Members.
The ISF is made up of over 350 Member organisations from around the world and from every major market sector. The ISF provides deliverables to ensure that the practices adopt by its Members are on the leading edge of information security.
PwC has an engagement to deliver ISF research and tools to ISF Members. The PwC team is part of the firm's cyber security practice in the Risk Assurance business unit.
Additional information Amount of time office based: 80-90%
Travel time: 10-20%
Need to travel/overnight stays away from home: Yes - to run research workshops with Members, attend Chapter meetings, and attend the ISF's Annual World Congress

Essential requirements:
• Excellent logical reasoning skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Excellent ability to develop clear arguments with logical, structured flow, adapting as the evidence changes
• Strong analysis skills and the ability to recognise key factors in a mass of information
• Strong ability to articulate and develop ideas from initial concept into concrete and practical guidance, accepting input, challenges, builds, etc.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to present information to and facilitate discussion among groups
• Strong listening and understanding skills
• Ability to interact with senior security staff in formal and informal environments
• Ability to see both technical details and the high level picture
• Strong organisational, time management and project management skills
• Ability to manage challenging meetings, resolving competing ideas and requirements effectively and amicably
• Understanding of the link between information security and the business
Desirable requirements:
• Subject matter expertise in one of the research areas
• Subject matter expertise in key aspects of information security
• Knowledge of information risk management approaches, methodologies and systems (eg CRAMM, RISK PAC, OCTAVE)
• Broad experience in IT (eg systems development, information/IT security)
