The Service Delivery unit at BT Openreach is an organisation of circa 17,000 people. The field leadership team are a critical part of this and we are actively recruiting for an Senior Operations Manager to lead a large field-based team of around ten managers and 250 engineers. As the Senior Operations Manager you will be responsible for delivering the business plan across safety, people, service and finance. Each field team is a multi-million pound business in its own right.

Working as part of a General Managers leadership team to lead, direct and inspire an field based operational unit to be a brilliant team. To enable a safe working environment, leading our people, delivering fantastic service and controlling our financials
Understanding the issues within the patch from the team member through to bringing the best service to our customers with a sense of continuous improvement and growth.
Working with key delivery partners such as Controls, Operational Engineering Manager, Finance, HR to deliver end to end production in line with capacity plans.
To own their numbers and make a real difference to the effectiveness of their team in the most efficient way. Being mindful of an agreed budget and the need for quality to ensure economic service delivery performance across the field activities

Create, lead, engage with and direct a workforce to drive enhanced performance, through our people agenda. This will include at all levels of the business:

c. Talent & Succession
d. Training & Development
Develops, delivers, reviews and adjusts a local operations plan that underpins GM and national Service Delivery with flexibility to meet the changing business and production environment. Specifically required to deliver in the following target areas.
a. Production output to required quantity and quality
b. Resource utilisation to agreed production schedules (e.g. KMH envelope and attendance patterns)
c. Skilled workforce capable of meeting production environments
d. Role modelling a safe, secure and quality culture
e. Having an awareness of financials and how your unit contributes / impacts this area
Support and engage in the testing and management of Service Contingency plans (e.g. severe weather, cable breakdowns, civil resistance)
Embrace, lead and drive sustainable business change within Openreach aligned to the customers, markets and economic conditions
Working closely with other business units to support sustained network health and capability, improvement and stability
Actively promotes compliance with the Openreach version of BT code of practice and its undertakings

People leadership of up to 250 people The safety of their teams; the safety of the individuals and upholding all relevant policies and practices that support safety.
Delivering the output requirements (volume, quality and costs) as specified by the end to end production environment, within budget

Proven track record in operational environments, production or transformation.
High energy and personal resilience - continually champions what is right for the business, a can-do approach
Able to apply self-learning and improvement
Clear evidence of ability to engage, inspire people and manage change whilst delivering excellent business results.
Understands the customer experience and can drive and adjust operational delivery plans in real-time.
Drives high expectations and performance goals across a large employee base. A track record of identifying and developing talent for the business
Drives and delivers consistent processes and procedures to improve efficiency and customer experience
Appropriately challenges the way of doing things to develop and refine a standard operating environment
Able to think ahead, predict outcomes and develop scenarios that proactively mitigate business impact
Able to collaborate and work effectively across complex and matrix relationships utilising influencing and negotiation skills to reach agreement
Able to willingly and enthusiastically comply with national policies
