Job description
The Area Manager will be responsible for the effective management of the DIO Hard and Soft Facilities Management contracted services, helping to ensure that the defence estate within the South West Regional Delivery and particularly within their own Area of Responsibility is safe and legal, being maintained to appropriate standards that support defence capability and the needs of military end users.

The Area Manager is also responsible for building effective and trusting relationships with senior estate users and DIO customers, industry suppliers and other elements of DIO.

The Area Manager is a key member of the South West Senior Management Team, leading and supporting the wider team effort to achieve business and regional outputs and priorities including continuous improvements and change.

The Area Manager leads a small team of facilities managers based in Service Delivery area offices across the sub regional area and is responsible for ensuring the team adhere to and conform with agreed delivery processes and operates coherently and supports the delivery of Command Infrastructure Delivery Plans (CIDP).

Responsibilities• Management of the delivery of the contracted Hard and Soft FM services, in particularly maintaining compliance with legislative and mandated regulations, in an area of responsibility covering Gloucester, Bristol, Wiltshire.
• Delivery of additional works services as per the CIDP and also emerging in year maintenance related out of contract works.
• Stakeholder Management, building effective working relationships across DIO and Front-Line Commands/Top Level Budgets to support customer operations and the effective delivery of the contracted services.
• Performance and assurance reporting including supporting financial forecasting.
• Leadership and line/ matrix management of a geographically dispersed area team.

Desirable Experience

• Knowledge and understanding of other disciplines and the construction process from inception to completion.
• Previous experience of working in an infrastructure role or service delivery environment would be advantageous.
• Management of Risk
• Delivering large programmes of works

Travel Requirements

The South West Region is geographically large, and the successful candidate will have to travel to different locations to fulfil the role successfully and effectively, including some National travel; some overnight stays may be require. A full UK driving licence will be advantageous.
