About the role
As part of PwC's financial services regulatory practice, we work closely with colleagues in other disciplines delivering solutions. We are seeking to supplement the existing regulatory advice team with new talent at Senior Manager level to operate within the mortgages & general insurance markets.
With the help of this new talent, our aim is to continue to build a team that is known in the market as the premier, world-class Regulatory consulting team, interacting with the major players in the UK mortgage and general insurance markets and playing a key role in taking PwC's regulatory offerings to clients.

The team consists of experts in a number of fields including conduct of business, conduct risk, complaints handling, compliance and governance. We are a mixture of compliance professionals, ex-regulators and ex-auditors and we are looking to add to our already impressive talent pool. As a Senior Manager you will report to a Director, who has led the conduct of business team (mortgages and general insurance) over several years.


• Leading projects & running work streams on large engagements - working as part of a project team on client sites and day-to-day liaison with clients
• Subject matter expertise on regulatory impacts of Management Information and Data in the UK mortgage and General Insurance sector
• Identifying and documenting key systems and controls for demonstrating compliance with applicable PRA and FCA regulations
• Taking responsibility for the preparation of reports; making oral presentations of findings/recommendations to client management team(s)
• Leading technical input by becoming the 'subject matter expert' to a number of projects relating to regulatory and compliance services for clients
• Developing opportunities and winning new business, through marketing and sales activities and continuous client contact programmes with senior client staff
• Networking with clients, prospective clients and internally across PwC
• People development, mentoring and coaching, including management of client facing team
• Technical research, responding to consultation papers from relevant regulatory bodies, providing input to the debate on development and application of policy, participating in PwC's Thought Leadership
• Taking responsibility for developing a broader capability with additional talent, as business allows.
• Experience in providing regulatory consulting advice to mortgages & general insurance markets; consumer credit or, experience working with the FSA or equivalent overseas regulator.
• The ability to make new contacts, build relationships, listen to and understand client needs and interpret this into new opportunities to assist them.
• The drive and determination to win new work, build our reputation and expand our service offerings to our clients.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills both written and oral.
• Good understanding of the industry and regulatory environment in the UK (or equivalent overseas market) is required.
• Technically proficient in the FCA regime and requirements, in particular in relation to mortgage and insurance conduct of business, TCF and conduct risk, arrears & repossessions, approved persons, training & competence, regulatory supervision processes, outcomes based regulation and s.166 reporting. Also a good knowledge of the latest developments e.g. impact of FCA's proposals under the mortgage market review.
• General understanding of compliance and governance structures and operations, and industry best practice in compliance.
• People management, coaching and mentoring skills to contribute to leadership of client facing teams.
