The Mount Somerset Hotel and Spa is a stunning Regency country house hotel, set in four acres of beautiful grounds. The hotel forms part of the Eden Hotel Collection, which is a small group of privately owned unique places to stay offering the finest cuisine and extraordinary hospitality and combines traditional character with contemporary style to create a relaxed and welcoming home away from home for every guest, whether for business or pleasure. The dedicated team draw on a wealth of experience to ensure a memorable and comfortable stay for our guests.

We are now seeking an experienced Front of House Manager to join our team who will possess exceptional levels of customer service to be able to ensure all guests are greeted with genuine warmth to the hotel and to work in an efficient manner to maximise sales.


To be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of all Reception and Reservations, working closely with all teams to ensure the company standards are constantly maintained and that the guests' experience exceeds expectations.

Main Responsibilities

Co-ordinate and manage all aspects of the Front Office, Revenue and Reservations in order to achieve maximum profitability and commitment to standards
Compile daily and weekly revenue reports ensuring reconciliation of actualised revenue and resolving any discrepancies.
To manage GDS systems
Evaluate and improve quality of service in line with AA red star requirements
To ensure that special requirements and rooming needs are met and concierge forms are adhered to
Deal with complaints and guest comments in line with company guidelines and address problems in a timely manner
To continually monitor the guest journey and exceed guests' expectations along with ensuring courtesy calls are being made daily
Working closely with other HOD's to ensure maximisation of revenue and guest experience, upselling bedrooms and F & B, spa bookings and reservations
Monitor all administrative functions of Reception and Reservations
To ensure that all Receptionists are trained to the required standard
To plan and manage staffing levels effectively in accordance with the hotel's occupancy, events, forecasts and budget
Carry out regular inspections of the property in order to provide a first class property for guests.
To be hands on in all departments if the need arises
To ensure that all team members are up to date regarding events, company activities and objectives by attending weekly function sheet meetings and monthly HOD meetings
Actively participate in HR related matters of the department, recruitment, appearance, appraisals, training and development, succession plans and disciplinary procedures
Assist with achieving IIP status for the hotel
To be proactive in self-development
To promote the image of Eden Hotel Collection as a professional organisation
All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK and have previous hotel reception experience.
