The Scottish Private Business team provides trusted advisor services to corporate and non-corporate clients based across Scotland and further afield, ranging from the largest family businesses to privately owned/private equity backed businesses, entrepreneurial enterprises and individuals in the UK and overseas. The team encompasses our Corporate Advisory, M&A; tax & structuring team, and High Net Worth private client offering.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager to join our Private Business Tax team based in our Glasgow office, but also working on in our Edinburgh office as required. The candidate will have experience primarily in corporate or mixed tax, a commercial outlook and enthusiasm for business. There may be periodic visits to client sites and other PwC offices as required.
About the role
The successful candidate will be given day-to-day responsibility for managing on-going client relationships, will work on complex tax advisory projects and assist in winning and developing work across all aspects of tax.
The ability to manage a varied client portfolio and complex one off projects will be an essential part of your role which will also include responsibility for managing and developing more junior members of staff in your team. You will provide your client with excellent tax advice on business tax matters and will also be responsible for introducing other specialists and services as appropriate. You will be expected to establish effective working relationships with appropriate levels of client staff and maintaining and develop these on-going client relationships.
As a manager, you will be part of client service and project teams across PwC and will be expected to develop your managerial and leadership role within those teams, including being proactively involved in the financial management of the relationship and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget, contributing to the development of personal and team knowledge, building your own network of contacts through regular attendance at internal and external meetings, keeping up-to-date with proposed and actual changes in law and in the firm's products and services and keeping up-to-date with local and national business and economic issues that might potentially impact on your clients and /or their industry.
The Scottish Private Business team offers the opportunity to work on a challenging and varied client portfolio. Your role will be primarily corporate tax advisory, M&A; tax and structuring but you will be given the opportunity to work closely with specialists in particular areas, including:- Real Estate tax; Transactions support; Partnership tax planning/structuring; Stamp Duty/LBTT; international tax planning; succession and IHT Planning. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills in business tax or mixed tax combined with the ability to provide a commercial tax service to our clients and to lead teams of highly motivated people. Tax structuring ad M&A; experience would be beneficial in this role, however, training will be provided to the successful candidate.

• Qualified CA/ ACA / CTA (or equivalent)

• Relevant experience gained ideally within a Practice environment, with a solid understanding of business and personal tax.
