About the role
This is an innovative new role working with a solution focused approach to improve people's quality of life and help them access employment and skills opportunities. Employment Navigators will work with residents to understand the most appropriate employment and skills services and interventions best suited to them. Using a person-centred asset-based approach, Employment Navigators will identify and engage with the most disadvantaged residents and take responsibility for supporting them through every stage of their journey, addressing barriers to engagement and introducing activities to support progression into employment or training.

Employment Navigators will spend time in the community and connect with local and borough wide initiatives to create a referral pathway. As an Employment Navigator you will also be required to work in local libraries, children's centres and local provisions in order to speak to individuals and families. You'll get to know local services, build networks and work in partnership with other agencies. There are also opportunities to work alongside colleagues in a friendly team so you will feel fully supported in the role.

About you
You're enthusiastic, passionate and resourceful and you might have worked in employment advice, social care or health services. As an Employment Navigator you would be responsible for supporting participants through every stage in their journey, addressing barriers and introducing activities to support progression with employment as your focus.

Having experience of working in communities and engaging workless participants is essential whilst maintaining a professional, tactful and patient approach. You will be a strong communicator with expert industry knowledge. You will be resilient and can face difficult situations and should be able to both support and challenge as appropriate. You will possess a range of 'people friendly' skills, from being able to build trust and rapport with residents to motivating and encouraging some of our least confident residents. You will understand the local job market and network with a host of employers, social care and education services in order to make referrals via building a wide connection. You enjoy helping people into work and watching them progress in life.
