The South East Risk Assurance Group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) is looking for an experienced Director to enhance the current team and provide support in managing its portfolio of clients and to support the development of the business further to meet the increasing needs of our clients in managing and controlling technology related risks.
The role will involve the management of multiple assignments in various locations. The key area of focus will be supporting internal audit, external audit engagements along with any assurance consulting type engagements relating to IT Risk. A strong history of working with Senior client relationships reporting to Board level on ERP (Oracle or SAP), Cyber and Project risks would be beneficial.
The role can be based in our Uxbridge/ St Albans office and will require travel to cover the South East region, and potentially to support national regions.
The successful candidate will have assurance related experience in an auditing and advisory capacity and a strong technical IT background (related qualifications such as CISA are preferable).
They candidate will also have a grounding in understanding and evaluating controls and making pragmatic, implementable recommendations to clients. The candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

In addition to supporting the external financial audit, we also provide a variety of internal audit services. Since our expertise spans a wide range of industries and sectors, on each and every project we undertake the advice and assurance we offer can be focused on the individual needs of that client.
The South East Risk Assurance team is part of the wider UK team, which is undergoing a period of sustained growth; the prospects for career progression and development are therefore excellent.
The South East Risk Assurance team is comprised of circa 100 people including three Partners. It has very strong links with the National Risk Assurance team.
The role will be a mix of client facing and office time to support external engagements and support the development of the internal business model.
Examples of the areas of work that the successful candidate will be involved in include:
• Technology Assurance - we provide a wide range of Technology Assurance services for our clients, including ERP (SAP and Oracle), IT security, IT service management, user access and entitlement management, controls over enterprise business systems, business continuity planning / disaster recovery planning, and end user computing. • Controls Assurance work, in support of the External Audit. We undertake both IT General Controls (ITGC) reviews and business process reviews for our external financial audit clients. This requires developing an understanding of the risks facing the client and an understanding of what controls can mitigate those risks. As a result, Risk Assurance specialists develop a detailed knowledge of clients from both an IT and business perspective. • Internal Audit Services. We provide internal audit support to a number of clients via co-sourcing (where we work alongside their internal audit team) or outsourcing arrangements (where we deliver the entire internal audit programme for the year). We also provide training and advisory services to Internal Audit functions, such as reviewing the effectiveness of an Internal Audit Function.
The following skills are essential for this role:
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and have attained or be demonstrably working towards the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) qualification or equivalent. • Experience in leading and growing a team of strong technology specialists. • Experience gained in internal or external auditing and/or consulting environment of systems audit and the evaluation of technology and/or business controls supporting financial and operational application systems and related business processes in a complex environment; • Experience of working in teams and supervision/coaching of junior members of staff including developing teams; • Demonstrable project management of multiple engagements, analytical skills, business awareness for delivering stakeholder value, sound reporting skills and the ability to work under your own initiative to deliver agreed outcomes. • The ability to apply independent judgement during engagements and to support conclusions reached to senior level personnel both internally and externally, understanding the importance of the commercial aspects of the role; • You should be robust, flexible and be able to think on your feet; • You will be prepared to travel to some extent both in the UK and overseas, and to work to tight deadlines, when necessary; and • You will be able to demonstrate a breadth of experiences that enables you to hold broad business conversations and articulate complex issues to clients in a manner which is clear and unambiguous.
• Experience of developing and building strong relationships with client and internal stakeholders, including strong communication skills, such as presenting and report writing.
