We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Corporate Tax team in Gatwick, part of the South East region which also includes offices in Uxbridge, Reading, St. Albans, and Gatwick
Primarily the candidate will be working in our Gatwick office with periodic visits to regional PwC or client sites depending on our business needs. Our office provides services to a wide range of clients from large listed, private or inbound groups to a growing number of mid-sized owner-managed businesses. The corporate tax team assist with day-to-day tax compliance and consulting but is focused on advisory, structural and project based work.
The successful applicant will be ACA or CTA exam qualified (or equivalent) (pre-time qualification will be considered).
About the role
The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Proactively managing a portfolio of clients and generally working to Managers and above.
• Establish effective working relationships with appropriate levels of client Staff.
• Be proactively involved in the financial management of the client.
• Contributing to the development of personal and team knowledge.
• Build your own network of contact through regular attendance at internal and external meetings.
• Keep up-to-date with changes in law and in the firm's products and services.
• Keep up-to-date with local and national business and economic issues that might potentially impact on clients and /or their industry.
The successful candidate will have day-to-day responsibility for managing on-going client relationships, winning and developing work across all aspects of tax as well as undertaking one-off advisory projects.
A Senior Associate will be part of client-service and project teams. As such, managing both junior and more senior members of the relevant teams will be essential as well as developing your role within those teams.
The Gatwick team offers the opportunity to work on a challenging and varied client portfolio. You will be given the opportunity to work closely with local specialists in particular areas such as international structuring, finance and treasury, research and development, transfer pricing, insolvency / business recovery and PE-backed businesses.

Amount of time at client sites: 20%
Need to travel/overnight stays away from home: Occasional, depending on client projects.

The requirements for the role are as follows:
• Qualified ACA / CTA (or equivalent) (pre-time qualification will be considered);
• A strong academic background;
• Relevant experience gained ideally in an accountancy / legal firm;
• A commitment to continuing to enhance technical and other knowledge and skills;
• Willingness to take on new and challenging work;
• Risk awareness;
• Excellent team playing skills;
• Good communication skills;
• Self-motivation; and
• Good organisational and people skills.
• Up to date UK Corporate Tax experience, however we are open to hearing from qualified professionals with a different accountancy background (such as audit).
• Some exposure to tax planning work although it is anticipated that you may have had a mainly compliance background to date.
• The capability to demonstrate wider commercial awareness would also be highly desirable.
