A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the already well established Group Strategy & Planning team at our Head Office in Swindon. The role is at the heart of all Group strategic projects and requires a strong individual with a commercial and analytical mindset.

Who we're looking for
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Planning, you will manage corporate finance projects and develop the associated business case for a potential acquisition or disposal; engaging with specialist support (internal and external) as and when required.

You will be responsible for the production of valuations for potential acquisitions and disposals. These are often highly significant and need to be accompanied by sensitivity and interpretative analysis of related impacts, presenting information in a manner that ensures that key assumptions, risks and impacts are effectively communicated.

For those projects that proceed to completion, due diligence and negotiations support will be required.

What you'll be doing
The successful applicant will need to be able to forge and manage effective working relationships both internally and externally and engagement with executive directors.

As an effective problem solver, you will need to make assumptions that are highly significant to the valuations produced, and be able to identify and communicate major related impacts. This work is often of very high significance and can often need to be performed under very tight timetable restrictions, so time management and organisational skills are a must.

The work requires very high standards of professional care, strong analytical skills, highly developed commercial instincts and the decision making capacity to quickly find solutions to practical problems that routinely emerge in developing valuations. The ability to work on your own initiative, outside an established framework is required.

The job holder will require a flexible approach with aspects of the work likely to include non-standard hours.

The extras you'll get
If you put a lot in, it's only fair you should get a lot out. So if you help us do the right thing for our customers, we'll help further your career at Nationwide. As well as your salary, there's life assurance, a pension and a recognition and rewards scheme. We think it's a great place to work, and we're not afraid of giving you praise when you've done well.

Why work for us
At Nationwide we don't have shareholders, we're here for our members and we put their needs first in everything we do. And now, more than ever, two things are helping us go from strength to strength: we put our customers first, and we're known for being open, honest and trustworthy.
We're also the world's largest building society, with communities at the heart of everything we do. We aim to do the right thing for our members which helps set us apart from our competitors. But we need good people to help us do it. People who understand what we believe in, and have the talent and drive to keep us successful.
