Job Description

To coordinate the daily activities of the physiotherapy service on The Acute Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at The Wellington Hospital, providing leadership and promoting high quality evidence based physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management of patients with predominantly neurological impairment.

This is a full time role on a fixed term contract working 37.5hrs per week.

The salary for this role is between £46,974 - £52,000 and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • To plan, organize, lead and monitor the daily activities of the physiotherapy service on the Acute Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at The Wellington Hospital, ensuring that financial and statistical targets are met.
  • To provide effective clinical supervision, development and support to facilitate the education of staff members using highly developed clinical skills and theoretical knowledge alongside the Clinical Specialist
  • To undertake specialist assessments of patients with complex neurological presentations using expert handling and advanced clinical reasoning and observation skills
  • To participate in the physiotherapy on-call rota at The Wellington Hospital and provide support to the Lead Cardiothoracic physiotherapist to ensure staff working on call are competent to act as autonomous practitioner's undertaking the assessment and treatment of acutely ill patients with respiratory problems, who may have complex presentations.
  • To lead the Continuing Professional Development of physiotherapy staff within the rehabilitation service in line with national guidelines, the requirements of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health Care Professions Council
  • To lead and advise in the development of clinical and professional protocols, setting and monitoring of standards of practice and care pathways within Physiotherapy and the interdisciplinary team
Skills & Experience
  • BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
  • Current registered member of Health and Care Professions Council
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Specialist knowledge and application of Physiotherapy assessment and interventions relevant to a neurologically impaired client group, with intervention selection demonstrated through advanced clinical reasoning skills
