Our team in Greenwich is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Children's Support Worker to join them. The main purpose of this role is to develop and provide a support service to children in the refuge who have been adversely affected by domestic abuse. In this role, you will work together with colleagues, volunteers and other agencies to provide the most effective service for children, young people and families.

H4W have been providing support to the women and children of Greenwich for over 40 years. We provide somewhere safe for the women/children to live free from abuse, we advocate on their behalf and provide support at the time when they need it most: to enable them to move forward and build a new life.

This role is a 3-year fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities:

- Undertake assessments of children coming into the service and develop risk and support plans using an evidence-based approach to achieve positive measurable outcomes
- Act as an advocate for children within the service in dealings with statutory and non-statutory agencies, preparing reports and attending case conferences and court where necessary
- Organise and facilitate groups and recreational activities as appropriate
- Follow and apply Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures and have full regard to relevant legislation
- To help mothers and children to access professional advice services to enable their self sufficiency
- Encourage positive parenting through positive role modelling and encouraging involvement in activities and parenting groups

To be successful in this job, you will require:

- Experience in a similar role OR the enthusiasm and attitude required if you are newly qualified
- A working knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits, safeguarding children and adults, child protection, social and voluntary services approaches/involvement
- Knowledge of undertaking individual assessments including risk assessments and developing and delivering support plans
- Ability to build effective, professional working relationships, both internally and externally whilst valuing diversity
