The Midlands Region Business Development team is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to lead the BD efforts on a cross industry basis. This role will focus on business development, opportunity management, account management and ensuring sales effectiveness & best practice. The jobholder will spend time building relationships with clients as well as coaching teams internally which will also involve support around proposals in a driver capacity.
This is a maternity cover contract starting July/August 2014
Some Midlands / UK travel will be required.
About the role
The BD Manager will act as the professional for all business development activity on a cross industry basis in the Midland's region.
CMD is a centralised support function and covers all aspects of professional services marketing, sales support and business development. The prime area of focus for the function is to support the development and implementation of the firm's market strategy and in particular to deliver:
• Revenue growth
• Enhanced relationships and networks
• A distinctive brand experience
In this role, the successful candidate will work with the key stakeholders to drive business development activities. Key responsibilities will include:
• Managing a business development strategy, structure and processes (including leveraging business development knowledge and best practices from across the firm).
• Driving the pursuit process for key opportunities and demonstrating a clear contribution to revenue.
• Attending client, prospect and/or intermediary events. Ensuring effective follow up on these events.
• Attending and leading Account Planning Workshops (APWs).
• Assuming relationship/account management responsibilities for a number of priority accounts. Implementing account planning best practise, drive relationship building and develop and/or drive One Firm opportunities on these accounts.
• Ensuring that the Firm's insight, thought leadership and marketing campaigns are properly targeted, driven and deliver return on investment.
• Support, drive and deliver key national Sales Campaigns when required.
• Coach Partners and staff on business development and opportunity/pursuit management.
• Ensure the messages and learnings from Client Feedback are shared and acted upon to help increase opportunity conversion and client satisfaction.
• Contribute ideas and insights to the lead generation and opportunity management community within PwC.
• Be accountable and able to demonstrate the relationship management, revenue conversion, return on investment (ROI) and speed to market activities that you have undertaken.
• Act as proposal coach/driver on key opportunities as agreed with the Head of Client & Market Development.
The role reports to the Head of Client & Market Development (CMD) for the Midlands region. The Midlands region CMD team consists of 10 marketing, business development and proposal professionals focused on the Midlands market.
Proven track record in business development, sales and client relationship management
• An expert understanding of targeting, opportunity management and account management with the ability to implement both strategic and tactical initiatives
• The proven ability to drive and develop pipeline opportunities
• Strong knowledge of Pursuit or another relationship/sales methodology and proven experience in driving opportunities through to revenue
• Client focused with strong relationship skills
• Excellent project management skills
• Proactive with a positive 'can do' approach
• Self starter able to work effectively as part of a 'virtual team'
• A team player. Able to actively contribute & participate as a member of the Proposal and Opportunities Function
• The ability to form networks with Partners & staff at all levels and influence effectively
• A sound business understanding as well as being commercially and risk aware
