Translation Project Manager

Reed Specialist Recruitment's international client in now looking for a Translation Project Manager who is responsible for to plan and schedule translation projects and to lead the project team to ensure delivery within budget, and to agreed schedule and quality.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing translation / localisation projects through production, tracking and reporting on costs and adherence to schedule and highlighting any issues to the Programme Manager and/or the customer in a proactive and timely fashion
  • Work with the project team to quantify and secure resources to ensure projects are delivered to cost, time and quality targets and to ensure problems are identified early and solved in a timely fashion
  • Continuously monitor and review production processes and, with the project team, implement improvements that will result in improved turn round times, decreased costs of production and/or improved employee satisfaction
  • Work closely with the relevant Client Manager(s), providing status information as required
  • Provide work outlooks to enable operational resource planning, entering planning and budget information and metrics on project planning software as required
  • Compile and present project performance data at internal monthly review
    Back-up to Programme Manager
  • The Translator Project Manager will interface internally with Project Co-ordinators, Programme Manager, Client Manager, Translators, Translation Resource Analysts, Desk Top Publisher, Technical Project Group, externally with Customers and Suppliers


Person Specification:

  • 5+ experience in Project Management, preferably within a translation/localisation or similar environment
  • Experience of leading project teams
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Knowledge of Trados or a similar translation tool an advantage, different file formats eg. html, xml an advantage
  • Knowledge of DTP software an advantage
  • Computer literate (MS office) including the use of Project Management/planning software and spreadsheet
  • Linguistic background / language skills an advantage
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to make sound decisions and solve problems creatively
  • Proven strategic planning & organisational skills
  • Results orientated
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
