The Valuations team is a team of around 100 individuals and is an integral part of the Deals Team, one of the fastest growing areas within PwC.
The Valuations team is looking to hire two senior managers into either London or a regional office to undertake valuations for, primarily, tax purposes.
In addition to good commercial and client relationship skills, strong communication and analytical capabilities and the ability to deliver excellent work both in terms of modelling and report writing, we would expect the candidate to have significant experience of the following:
· Valuing businesses, intangible assets and shares (including hurdle/performance shares)
· Applying valuation methodologies and tools including the expected returns approach and monte carlo analysis
· Negotiating valuations with HMRC and/or other international taxation authorities
As the UK market leading Valuations practice, our UK practice of more than 100 dedicated valuers delivers unparalleled valuation expertise. Within the practice, tax valuation services is a significant element of our business and is experiencing substantial growth in line with improving equity and deal markets and the wider growth of our core tax practice. We are looking for individuals who can lead tax valuation engagements, drawing upon skills from across the practice and their own experience to deliver valuation analysis of a high quality to our clients and of a standard accepted by HMRC.The successful candidate will enjoy potential for fast personal development by playing an important role focusing on tax valuations. From the outset they will be exposed to a diverse range of challenging valuation work across industry sectors and will work with corporate and private equity clients. Access and interaction with senior colleagues (particularly in PwC's tax practice) and clients will also provide great opportunity to build business development and marketing skills.
The successful individual will:
• Lead the delivery of a wide variety of valuation assignments within the tax valuation area. • Apply appropriate valuation methodologies, including expected returns and Monte Carlo analysis. • Liaise and negotiate valuations with HMRC. • Manage and coach more junior colleagues. • Prepare concise and well written reports, discussing our conclusions with our clients. • Interact with senior colleagues, particularly within PwC's Tax and Deals teams to deliver valuations alongside other services provided by PwC. • Support the wider Valuations practice in the development of key client relationships and contribute to the growth of the business.
The Individual
We are looking for individuals at Senior Manager level who have an excellent track record with previous tax valuation, client-facing work experience and is able to demonstrate the following personal attributes:
• Strong academic and work track record, with a breadth of commercial, client-facing work experience and proven extensive tax valuation experience
• Strong analytical skills but tempered with an ability to think laterally. The candidate will take responsibility for the delivery of projects.
• Ability to articulate key business drivers and specific valuation issues.
• Ability to manage junior resource and coach them through complex valuation issues.
• Ability to deliver quality written work. The candidate must have a strong attention to detail and be able to prepare and review valuation reports which support the valuation conclusion including industry and market analysis, comparable company analyses and detail on adopted valuation methodologies (including expected returns and monte carlo analysis although latter not strictly necessary).
• Excellent communication skills - ability to discuss complex issues in confident, clear and articulate way, including with HMRC and other tax authorities
• Ability to work effectively in teams and willingness to take on a high degree of responsibility.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence when interacting with others.
• Ability to operate independently and proactively where appropriate, demonstrating initiative.
• Ability to build strong internal and external relationships with key clients and targets.

A professional qualification (ACA, CFA or equivalent)
