The PwC UK Hedge Funds Tax team:-
There has been a resurgence in Hedge Fund capital to pre-2008 levels which is expected to increase in the near future. In response to the changes in the global regulatory and tax environment, the demand for our services continues to grow.
The PwC Hedge Funds team is the market leader in the provision of UK corporate tax advice and cross border tax and consulting services. The scale of growth of the business continues at impressive levels and the team is seeking to recruit a Senior Manager for the Hedge Funds sub-team, within the London Investment Management Tax team.
About the role
This role will encompass a mixture of tax advisory projects, with a strong focus on Hedge Funds and fund managers, including assisting with challenging structuring matters. The role provides an excellent opportunity to understand how Hedge Fund houses and funds are structured, how fund structures interact with investments, how Hedge Fund are dive;rsifying into other forms of asset management and how compensation is structured for alternative fund managers.
We would expect the individual to be involved with the following types of work:
Helping clients compute tax liabilities (corporate and individual aspects) arising on their investments in complex structures;
Giving fund structuring advice to managers on the structuring of new funds which will involve reviewing legal documentation, producing steps papers and/or memos to explain the structuring and liaising with PwC overseas offices if tax advice in other jurisdictions is required;
Dealing with ad-hoc queries in relation to funds tax questions, examples include HMRC enquiries, PAYE queries, VAT, valuations etc.;
Building and developing internal networks to capitalise on global opportunities from Asia Pac and the US;
General corporate and UK operational taxes and compliance services; and
Working with the team to seek new business as well as being involved in business development and industry initiatives.

We would expect interested applicants to be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
-ACA / CTA qualified or to be working towards one of those qualifications
-Have an interest in asset management, specifically in Hedge Funds. Knowledge of asset management tax is preferable but not essential
-The role will require a knowledge of income tax, capital gains tax and corporate tax
-A knowledge of partnership tax is desirable but not essential
-Enthusiasm to expand tax technical skills as the role requires analysis of a number of different areas of legislation both corporate and personal
-Strong project management skills, as projects will often involve liaising with numerous stakeholders or multiple PwC locations globally
-Good attention to detail and strong writing skills
-The ability to work accurately under time pressure and manage multiple on-going projects
