The Solutions Architect is the overall owner of the Sportsbook Architectural Roadmap, its strategic alignment to product initiatives, performance objectives, and its proper implementation. She/he must have a deep understanding of product requirements, technological direction, and ask the right questions to be able to develop an architectural roadmap that is both strategic and sufficiently flexible to meet current and future foreseeable needs.
The Solutions Architect works with the Tech Leads and Stakeholders to provide a technical/architectural approach, then guides developers to ensure its proper implementation. Furthermore, the Solutions Architect coordinates with global architecture to ensure the Sportsbook architectural roadmap is aligned with the overall company’s strategy. Additional responsibilities include the maintenance of non-functional requirements, oversight of technical debt, conducting proof of concepts, guidance around technology choices, and performance testing.
The ideal candidate will be a senior technical resource with experience in high transactional systems that incorporate industry best practices around developing highly resilient systems, being highly experienced in database technologies, caching, and messaging systems. The candidate should have strong communication skills being able to convey very technical concepts and ideas to a non-technical audience, along with the associated business value.
Reporting to the Director of Sportsbook Technology, the Solutions Architect is also a coach and mentor to the development team that inspires and motivates the team to deliver high quality solutions according to business requirements.
You will also work closely with the Chief Architect and Developement Team Leads.
The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain the architectural roadmap working closely together with the different Stakeholders, Team Leads, and Tech Leads. The Solutions Architect answers the question “How will it be built?”
The Solutions Architect is the first technical point of contact for stakeholders/product and is responsible for the technical approach and pre-design work on all new initiatives, synchronizing with the overall global architecture.
Point of contact for Sportsbook architecture with all other architectural teams
Architectural Design / Proof of Concepts
Provide high level estimations for initiatives
Work closely with the Team Leads and Tech Leads to ensure the technical debt backlog is strategically aligned with the architectural roadmap, and that it is implemented correctly
Own all non-functional requirements for the Sportsbook Tech teams
Maintain a hands on approach, thus actively participating in the development process for strategic/tactical initiatives. This can be done through the development of POCs, auxiliary tools, code reviews and even actual development against user stories.
Provide governance to the Tech Leads
Ensure best practices are set and adhered to: maintaining goal architecture, maintaining a high degree of technical knowledge within the teamdesign best practices such as scalability, resilience, avoiding single points of failure
Participate in Root Cause Analysis for production incidents
Mentor, motivate and inspire the team
