Social Care Worker - Hampshire, Martin, SP6 3
This is an exciting opportunity to work within Dundee City Council's Homecare department.
The Homecare service offers a service to people aged 18 and over who have been assessed as requiring a package of care within their own home. The team works with service users in the community enabling them to live as independently as possible and to remain in their own home.
You will undertake a range of duties and tasks which will include assessing and goal setting with the service user and assisting them to plan their own care. You will assist service users to manage their own personal care and other daily living tasks.
We are seeking enthusiastic, self motivated carers who are flexible in their approach to the changing needs of the service user. Caring experience is not essential as we believe that having a caring and sensitive approach with an understanding of the needs and rights of older people is paramount. In exchange for this we offer the right person an excellent training package giving you the ability to progress within the Council.
You will be expected to actively participate as part of a team offering a wide range of opportunities to service users in order to help them achieve their potential. Duties will also involve the provision of personal care. You will be expected to undertake shift work including day, evening and weekend on a rota basis you may be asked to work occasional nights. You will be required to cope with change and be adaptable so flexibility is essential.
Ideally, you will hold an SVQ Level 2 (Care). If you do not hold the qualification you will be required to obtain it given the necessary assistance and training. You will also have the opportunity to undertake work related training and development. Driving licence preferred but not essential.
There are 12 temporary posts of various contracts.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
