Job descriptionIn order to develop and expand the capabilities of Safran Engineering Services in the UK we are looking for flexible engineers to develop the mechanical activities.
You will lead and perform Mechanical Design activities related to Aerospace and/or Automotive and/or Test equipments. You will be considered as the technical lead on the different projects we are working on and will support the development of new activities and growth of the team.
The role will be key to successfully managing the work packages of our customers.

Candidate skills & requirementsTechnical Profile:
- Capability to lead/support the production of Design Schemes, including 3D CAD model assemblies and 2D drawings for the concept and detail design of mechanical systems.
- Excellent knowledge of CATIA V5 or similar CAD packages
- Proven experience with ISO tolerance and complex chains of dimensions
- Ability to manage quality and performance of basic design calculations such as interference fits, thermal growths, hoop and tensile stresses, thread loadings, and tolerance analysis to support detail designs.
- Ability to liaise and work effectively with other projects / engineering disciplines such as stress, manufacturing, electrics, etc.
- Capability to manage and assimilate formal product and customer requirements into mechanical design.
- Capability to produce clear and concise technical documentation including Design reports, and Functional specifications.
- Experience with producing and maintaining accurate Bill Of Materials in line with latest CAD assemblies.
- Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, castings, materials (Metallic & Composites) and related thermal treatments, including material protections and coatings.
- Must be capable of working in accordance with customer specific gateway reviews.
- Must be able to provide guidance/mentor junior designers and other team members to assist completion of their activities.
Desirable technical skills:
- Aerospace experience (Generators, landing gear, starter motors)
- Ground Transportation experience (Automotive related with Powertrain & Body Engineering, Railway)
- Test equipment experience (design, commissioning, ITA's, ATE's).
- Familiar with rapid prototype methods and applicable design approaches.
- Experience with NX Unigraphics, IDEAS, VPM, PDM
