Job descriptionThe Senior International Trade Officer will Lead the implementation of Import and Export compliance at the Pitstone facility including International UK & EU Import & Export Control Regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
They are responsible for the administration of exports & preparation of all export shipments (civil & military items). The role-holder will deputise for the Head of Trade Compliance with regards to Imports & Exports
Key Accountabilities:
◦Actively engage with all aspects of the business to ensure most efficient compliance regimes
◦Offer training & support to the business
◦Implement the trade compliance strategy by providing training across the business
◦Implement the common approach across the facility and implement a robust communications plan
◦Provide advice and guidance to the business to ensure effective and compliant solutions can be deployed to meet business needs
◦Actively engage with all aspects of the business
◦Coordinate the business communications training and education across the business
◦Coordinate the business audit processes and implement improvement actions to optimise performance as directed by the Head of Trade Compliance
◦Coordinate all imports and reporting requirements of IPR under the HMRC regulations and all other applicable regulations
◦Coordinate all exports, application and reporting requirements of required licences and / or authorisations to maintain compliance with all applicable export legislation
◦Support the International Trade team as required
◦Support the Head of Trade Compliance as required
◦Classification of products
◦Update and maintain the Skills Matrix for the Trade Compliance team
◦From time to time the successful candidate may be required by the Company to perform other tasks which are not included in the above description, but are within the capabilities of the individual and, where necessary, training will be given

Candidate skills & requirementsExperience and Qualifications:
◦Detailed knowledge and proven experience with Import & Export compliance regulations (including HMRC) as well as ITAR & EAR
◦Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access plus the aptitude to learn how to use various in-house business systems quickly
◦Experience of SAP
◦Knowledge of aerospace and manufacturing
Required Skills/Person Spec:
◦Must be well organised, accurate at record keeping and able to work under pressure
◦Excellent communication skills and able to interface well with fellow employees across the business as well as with customs brokers, forwarders and suppliers
◦Ability to influence using reasoned and logical arguments regarding legal aspects
◦Is able to work well under pressure
◦Excellent Problem Solving and Analytical Skills
◦Ability to lead a team
◦Has a customer bias dedicated to meeting the expectations of customers whilst maintaining compliance
