This role provides an outstanding opportunity for an individual with experience in IT Disaster Recovery, Critical Systems monitoring activities, IT Management (based on ITIL service management practices), incident management, IT infrastructure and architecture and IT Risk Management to join a growing team and gain exposure to a dynamic mix of client assignments.
About the role
The Risk Assurance North team is looking for a Senior Associate (a grade below Manager) to join our team. In joining us you will be part of a unique client proposition, assisting our clients understand and challenge the extent to which their infrastructure and systems are resilient to the threat of an unexpected disaster event or failure, as well as assessing their IT risk management capabilities and their ability to recover after a significant failure.
The role will primarily be to support the Risk Assurance team within the region but may also enable you to work on assurance and consulting projects outside of the region. You will work within teams, reporting to a Manager/Senior Manager, to deliver a range of engagements.
Work will include:
• IT Disaster Recovery - assessing and advising organisations on their IT Disaster Recovery arrangements. This will include assessing current Disaster Recovery Plans and developing plans for organisations, which may include relating them to business continuity plans;
• Critical Systems Monitoring - helping clients assess and improve the arrangements they have in place around their critical systems. Engagements will include helping organisations identify their critical system and technology and advising on the arrangements they should have in place to monitor events taking place in and around their IT estate;
• IT Management - assessing and advising on the IT Management practices an organisation has in place and helping to improve these. Mainly focussed around the ITIL service management standards this will predominantly focus on assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of current IT support and management arrangements; and
• IT Risk - assessing an organisations exposure to key IT risks and advising on the processes and controls required to manage and mitigate these risks. This will predominantly use PwC's IT Risk diagnostic benchmarking tool to assess IT risk and control maturity across the IT function, then using the results to advise on areas of focus and actions that should be taken.
You will receive appropriate training for the engagements that you will undertake and coaching on engagements, although it is anticipated that you will be in a position to coach junior team members in these areas without requiring significant coaching yourself.

The following skills are required for this role:
Essential skills:
• A passion for technology and projects.
• Experience gained in a client facing environment.
• Strong analytical and engagement management skills.
• The ability to work effectively in different teams for varying periods of time building good working relationships with both colleagues and client personnel at all levels.
• The ability to assess IT risk and suggest pragmatic risk mitigation activities for a range of industries.
• Experienced in developing junior staff.
• Identifying and effectively reporting any issues and recommendations for improvement to clients, as well as drafting the related sections of formal reports.
Desirable skills:
• Gained or be working towards ITIL Practitioner (blue badge) or Managers Certificate (Red Badge)
• Knowledge of risk and regulatory frameworks for IT (ITIL, CobiT, , PCI-DSS, etc).
• Experience around business continuity and disaster recovery and how they relate.
• Gained or working towards ISO 24762 (ITDR/continuity)
• Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PRINCEII and MSP.
• Infrastructure design experience or interest.
• Experience of working in an FSA/FCA regulated IT environment.
• Experience of working on IT resilience, disaster recovery or critical system monitoring projects.
