Risk Assurance - Controls Assurance Senior Associate - SouthamptonReference AS03405Location SouthamptonService AssuranceSpecialism Risk AssuranceIndustry Cross industryWho we are looking for
PwC's Risk Assurance practice in the South East is looking for a strong Senior Associate (pre-Manager grade) to help us develop and deliver high quality IT audit and controls assurance services to a wide range of clients in the South East region. This role provides an outstanding opportunity for an ACA or CISA qualified or part-qualified auditor to join a growing team and gain exposure to a dynamic mix of client assignments.
About the role
Leading companies see risk management as an integral part of how they manage their business to protect value and drive performance. Risk Assurance specialists help companies to do business with confidence by identifying, measuring and managing risk more effectively. Our approach centres on providing advice and assurance that is focused on each client's individual challenges.
In the simplest terms, we help clients to identify measure and manage their risks more effectively. Our specialist knowledge extends to clients' internal controls (including IT systems), technology, non-financial reporting, corporate social responsibility and regulatory compliance. In addition to supporting the external financial audit, we also provide a variety of internal audit services. Since our expertise spans a wide range of industries and sectors, on each and every project we undertake the advice and assurance we offer can be focused on the individual needs of that client.
The majority of your time will be spent conducting Controls Assurance work, in support of the External Audit. We undertake both IT General Controls (ITGC) reviews and business process reviews for our external financial audit clients. This requires developing an understanding of the risks facing the client and an understanding of what controls can mitigate those risks. As a result, Risk Assurance specialists develop a detailed knowledge of clients from both an IT and business perspective.
In addition to the above you could also be involved in the following if you join the Risk Assurance team in the South East:
• Internal Audit Services. We provide internal audit support to a number of clients via co-sourcing (where we work alongside their internal audit team) or outsourcing arrangements (where we deliver the entire internal audit programme for the year). We also provide training and advisory services to Internal Audit functions, such as reviewing the effectiveness of an Internal Audit Function.
• Non Financial Reporting Assurance. In an environment where clients are increasingly requiring assurance over non financial data and systems we work with our clients to understand and perform non audit assurance engagements to provide internal and external stakeholders comfort over non financial information.
• Third Party Assurance Services. The trend to outsource certain business processes has become ever more popular in recent decades and this popularity is likely to continue as more and more organisations recognise the value of buying-in resources as and when required. We provide independent assurance that those services that are provided to our clients are performed and handled in a controlled and effective manner.
• Technology Assurance. We provide a wide range of Technology Assurance services for our clients, including IT security, IT service management, user access and entitlement management, controls over enterprise business systems, business continuity planning / disaster recovery planning, and end user computing.
The following skills are required for this role:
Essential skills:
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and have attained or be demonstrably working towards the ACA and/or CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) qualification or equivalent. • Experience gained in a internal or external auditing and/or consulting environment of systems audit and the evaluation of technology and/or business controls supporting financial and operational application systems and related business processes in a complex environment. • Experience of working in teams and supervision/coaching of junior members of staff. • Demonstrable project management and analytical skills, business awareness for delivering stakeholder value, sound reporting skills and the ability to work under your own initiative to deliver agreed outcomes. • The ability to apply independent judgement during engagements and to support conclusions reached to senior level personnel both internally and externally. • You should be flexible and be prepared to travel to some extent both in the UK and overseas, and to work to tight deadlines, when necessary.
• Experience of developing and building strong relationships with client and internal stakeholders, including strong communication skills, such as presenting and report writing.
