Release Manager

Our client is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services. The team focuses on curves analytics, calibration algorithms, instrument rolling and representation, and efficient pricing of bonds and swaps. This is a challenging and high-profile role because the quant libraries are used by many varied applications throughout the firm and have several inter-dependencies. This requires that they build the libraries in a consistent manner on multiple different platforms with different versions of boost, NAG and other low-level libraries in order to fit into the varied application landscape, which itself is constantly changing. The majority of the fixed income products are valued using these libraries so it is imperative that the regression testing highlights any changes to valuations and can easily attribute them to a specific code change. Their ability to patch, test, and release new functionality in a timely manner can be critical to their success as a business and the successful candidate will be critical to helping them achieve this.

  • Take part in improvement of automated build, release, integration and testing
  • Create and maintain build configurations for local builds and for Jenkins jobs to compile, test and deploy various flavours and components of the libraries on the different operating systems, including edge-builds of the most important applications
  • Assemble releases and patches by performing code merges across branches, and coordinate releases from development through functional and regression testing to production
  • Experience with software operation (e.g. build or release or integration engineering, DevOps) using both Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with build tools, for example make, premake, Jenkins, Visual Studio, msbuild, ant and build acceleration tools such as distcc, ccache, incredibuild
  • Experience with at least one version control system like Perforce or Git
  • Knowledge with at least one programming language (e. g. C++, Java, Perl, Python)
  • Coding skill to tasks such as environment configuration, artefact promotion, code merging and conflict resolution between branches or investigating build failure or regressions and relating those to code changes
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and written
  • Working as part of a front-office team of quant-developers
