Business Recovery Services sits in Deals, working closely with Corporate Finance, Transaction Services and Forensics. We are looking for a qualified accountant of Senior Associate (below manager) grade to join BRS West, working out of Bristol.
The applicant should be proactive, driven, self-motivated, possess effective interpersonal skills and be flexible as regards the nature and location of assignments. BRS is a peaks and troughs business, so the applicant should be comfortable with managing their workload and working within tight delivery timescales where required.
About the role
The applicant will be part of a 26 strong BRS West team (working out of our offices in Bristol and Cardiff) delivering advisory services and insolvency solutions to lenders, creditors and businesses and organisations in troubled financial situations. The role will afford the applicant significant opportunity to get under the skin of a wide variety of businesses across a number of sectors, including manufacturing, service and government and public sector.
The role will be based in Bristol, with the majority of assignments located within the region, which covers an area encompassing Aberystwyth in mid-Wales, down to Cornwall in the South West and east as far as Swindon. The applicant may also be afforded opportunities to work cross-Deals, in particular with our Corporate Finance and Transaction Services colleagues.
Responsibilities for the role include supporting the senior management team in:
• Reviewing company financial and operational information, including audited and management accounts, forecasts and projections; • Critically assessing and sensitising information provided by the corporate in the context of a business experiencing cash flow difficulties; • Liaising with client management teams and individuals to obtain information relevant to the scope of the assignment; • Drafting reports to lenders and corporates setting out the findings of the work undertaken; • Attendance at client meetings to scope out and present our findings; • Assisting with the delivery of our corporate insolvency work.

The following skills are required for this role:
Essential skills:
• Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA or equivalent • Experience of integrated financial models and cash flows • Computer literate, in particular a working knowledge of Microsoft applications Word, Excel and Powerpoint • Proactive and driven individual with a good record of independent working • Self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude and an ability to self-manage • Flexible as regards the nature and location of assignments and comfortable with irregular work flows

• Enthusiastic and comfortable with new and challenging situations • Organised individual with an ability to prioritise • Team player with effective verbal and written communication skills • Understanding of business needs and potential impact of internal and external factors • Good internal and external client handling skills - confident in dealing with challenging conversations • Commercial and risk awareness
