Project Manager - Kent, Lydd, TN29 9PX

Responsible for managing the successful delivery of medium to large projects, or workstreams within large projects for business or systems change, within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, to deliver specified customer requirements. To achieve this, the Project Manager must ensure that the management and support for each project is adequate. Project progress, budget, risks, issues and variances must be monitored. The Project Manager is responsible for the project producing a result that is capable of achieving the benefits defined in the Business Case.

The Role:
•Definition, documentation and safe execution of medium to large projects or workstreams adhering to agreed methodologies and standards
•Prepares and maintains realistic project and quality plans
•Effectively estimates cost, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project to agreed scope
•Monitors performance against plan, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances
•Provides reports to the Project Board and senior management as require
•Provides effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience
•Allocation of tasks to team members and appraising individual performance against agreed objectives
•Actively represents the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business
•Agree any delegation and use of Project Assurance roles required by the Project Board and/or Project/Programme Manager
•Manages risks, including the development of contingency plans
•Liaison with the management team and/or Project Board to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project / business case / workstream the project and business case
•Management of external suppliers where appropriate
•Ensures that the project is formally closed and lessons learned are captured and actioned

The Person:
•Ability and experience of directing medium to large projects/workstreams
•Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead others
•Professional designation in management and/or relevant technology
•Good communication and interpersonal skills
•Goal orientation and action-focused
•Ability to prioritise and delegate as and when required
•Able to establish strong working relationships with senior stakeholders

•Project Management experience of medium to large projects / workstreams
•Good financial understanding
•Some working knowledge/experience of PMO disciplines
•Experience of delivery of in-house developments and third party products
•PRINCE 2 accredited
•APM qualification desirable
•Working knowledge of project planning tools, e.g. Microsoft Project

•Enjoys a challenging and demanding role
•Ability to work well under pressure
•Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
•Demonstrates sound judgement and business awareness
•High energy and personal drive
