North - RAS - Controls Senior Associate - Lancashire, Manchester, M21 0

North - RAS - Controls Senior AssociateReference AS03887Location ManchesterService AssuranceSpecialism Risk AssuranceIndustry Who we are looking for
The Risk Assurance North team is looking for a Senior Associate (a grade below Manager) to join our team. In joining us you will be part of a unique client proposition, assisting our clients to understand and challenge the extent to which their company's systems, processes, controls and people assist or inhibit their strategies to operate efficiently and effectively and generate value
The role will be based in the North, with our team being spread across offices in Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle. A large proportion of your time will be spent client-facing, and as such our Senior Associates are required to have strong communication and relationship building skills in addition to core technical abilities and ability to project manage and lead engagements 'on the ground'.
About the role
As a credible candidate you will have developed core skills in a number of disciplines including accounting/audit, information technology, risk assessment, business processes and controls. Our people are expected to be capable of applying these core skills in a variety of business situations.

The role will primarily be to support the Risk Assurance team within the region but may also enable you to work on assurance and consulting projects outside of the region.

You will typically work with a variety of external audit, internal audit and non-audit clients, across multiple industries, performing auditing, assurance or advisory engagements.
You will work within teams, reporting to a Manager/Senior Manager, to deliver a range of engagements such as:
• External Audit Support. The Risk Assurance team performs IT General Controls reviews and Business Process Controls reviews for audit clients in support of annual external financial audits. This requires developing an understanding of the risks facing the client and an understanding of controls in place to mitigate those risks. From this type of work, our Senior Associates develop detailed knowledge and valuable insight into IT, business processes and controls at a variety of organisations.
• Performance Assurance. In an environment where clients are increasingly requiring assurance over non-financial data and systems, we work with our clients to understand and perform non audit assurance engagements to provide internal and external stakeholders with comfort over non-financial information being reported (e.g. environment/sustainability, health and safety, workforce, product compliance). These engagements could include assessment of conformity with a compliance standard or the provision of a third party audit opinion on the effectiveness of the control environment (e.g. ISAE3402).
You will receive appropriate training for the engagements that you will undertake, together with a sufficient level of support on engagements, although it is anticipated that you will be in a position to coach junior team members in these areas without requiring significant coaching yourself. For the right individual, the role provides an outstanding opportunity to progress, develop and be rewarded for achievement as part of a successful and growing part of the PwC business. (No) Need to travel/overnight stays away from home (Yes 20%) Opportunity for flexible working (hours)? (Yes) Amount of time PwC office based (30%)

• Experience gained in an auditing and/or consulting environment.
• Experience in auditing controls within a wide range of IT, finance, and business processes.
• Experience of risk assessment/risk management/controls frameworks.
• Ability to analyse and interpret findings and their root causes, form practical improvement recommendations, and clearly articulate these to clients in both written reports and oral presentation.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to see a 'bigger picture' for clients and their business environment.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong communication and relationship skills with colleagues and client staff of all backgrounds and levels.
• Experience in developing/coaching junior staff.
Desirable skills:
• Gained or be working towards a relevant business or accounting qualification (e.g. ACA).

• Knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system e.g. SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics.
