Network Systems Engineer - Hampshire, Portsmouth, PO1 1

The role of the Network Systems Engineer will be based in Portsmouth. The successful candidates will be responsible for coordinating the activities required to integrate the Internal Network Electronics (INE) Procurable System with other systems of the QEC Mission System (for example the combat management system, navigation & bridge system, visual surveillance system & C4I systems).

As a Network Systems Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:

Hands-on support to the deployment of INE Shore Representation Units (SRU's) at the ACA integration facilities and external system supplier sites, including:
Build of SRU, including process to gain design certification
Conduct initial deployment of SRU at supplier site, ensuring the network is up-and-running effectively
Conduct identification, investigation & resolution of supplier raised issues - this is a 'rapid response' service provided to the supplier on their site.
Hands-on support to the conduct of Integration Activities at the ACA integration facilities (led by the ITEA team), including:
Conduct identification, investigation & resolution of ITEA raised INE related issues
Follow INE configuration management processes ensuring:
All issues raised are captured in Observation Reports (OR's)
Resultant design changes are fed back into the INE design team

As a Network Systems Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Experience of working with networking and communications systems including Cisco routing and switching technologies - preferably CCNP qualified.
Experience of setting-up & configuring Cisco routers, switches, firewalls etc…
Understanding of Network Management technologies (e.g. SNMP, Netflow etc…)
Experience of liaising directly with key suppliers & developing relationships to resolve issues.
Proven track record of involvement in conduct of Factory Acceptance Tests and Integration Activities
