Job Category: EngineeringFrom our Rail Automation entity, Siemens are looking to recruit an experienced Materials Interface Engineer.
This role will provide an interface between design, procurement and site installation functions to enable efficient, cost effective ordering and supply of project materials to the correct standard and specification.
What are my responsibilites?
• Liaise with all other departments to efficiently control the process of project variations/change
• Interact with design and installation to determine the correct definition of materials required for the project
• Monitor the use and identification of components and parts so that a full audit trial is available on all materials and purchases
• Ensure that all documentation meets and exceeds project requirements including relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines incorporating traceability and quality control
• Provide Procurement/Supply Chain with detailed information to enable efficient and timely ordering of materials
• Liaise with manufacturers and 3rd Party Suppliers to ensure that all products meet the requirement of railway-specific standards
• To develop designated material lists which reflects company/project requirements by consolidating all information into palletised system
• Ensure that all materials ordered have the correctly identified part number via use of the current Business Systems
• To review and ensure that all updated versions from design have been correctly identified and appropriate material changes have been initiated
• Assist in raising Bills of Materials for project requirements that are registered on current Business systems at an early stage of the contract so that part numbers can be issued in time before procurement commences
• Liaise with Chippenham 3rd Party Suppliers and R&D; to keep up to date with new products and ongoing changes
• Ensure all functions comply with Invensys Rail Procedures and Best Practices
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and the use of Existing Information and Communication
• Line Management of staff allocated to assist in interface function

• Demonstrable competence of railway/civil/engineering based products and materials (essential)
• Proven track record of within Supply Chain function (essential)
• Ability to communicate at any level from Site Based Personnel to external suppliers at Director level (essential)
• Able to communicate relevant information to those who need to know; e.g. Managers, Project Leaders, Quality and Safety Engineers and colleagues (essential)
• Excellent understanding of Siemens Rail Automation business
