Energy Trading & Risk Management ("ETRM") Senior Manager (Senior Manager grade), based in London with ability to travel across UK and Internationally.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is one of the world's leading professional services firms. Our Commodity Management practice is focussed on working in partnership with clients to deliver real business transformation.
As part of our rapidly growing Commodity Management practice, we are looking for experienced senior managers to assist in the development and delivery of our commodity trading and risk management capability across the energy sector. The role provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Commodity Management leadership team in developing this service offering within our expanding practice.
Relevant candidates should have broad Commodity Management skills but with in-depth knowledge of one or more energy commodity classes. The Senior Manager should have a broad range of skills and experience across a variety of ETRM processes including front office, risk management, operations, back-office, financial reporting or systems with an in-depth knowledge of OpenLink Endur.
Relevant candidates will need to have consulting project and/or systems experience. We are looking for highly ambitious professionals to in the first instance support the leadership team in developing this capability within PwC and over time to take on leadership roles with progression opportunities.

About the role
The nature of the service offering will be to advise and support change on all aspects of the front, middle and back office aspects of the trading / risk management or commodity risk management / procurement functions of our target clients with a focus on solution architecture solutions. These may be standalone ETRM projects or as part of wider PwC change projects.
We are looking for these persons to come with the ambition and drive to develop these roles to higher levels.
The position will involve:

• Leading complex change projects and playing a key role in defining strategic and tactical technical solutions to enable the business to drive innovative solutions to improve business performance;
• Conducting technical and business analysis activities and client interviews and workshops;
• Developing and presenting solutions, options and recommendations and managing senior client relationships;
• Acting as a reference point and internal expert for IT and vendor Business Analysts and Project Managers;
• Liaising with Enterprise Architects to ensure the trading and marketing business leverages corporate initiatives and is compliant with standards and enterprise solutions;
• Providing subject matter expert knowledge to our target clients;
• Marketing and delivering PwC Commodity Management services to target companies;

The following skills & experience are required for this role:

• Significant, demonstrable experience in managing IT programmes and large engagements;
• Technical and Business Analysis Experience for leading CTRM software including OpenLink Endur;
• Demonstrable experience leading implementations of complex, large scale IT transformational projects for large trading organizations and in managing business and IT transformations with large teams.
• Experience at all stages of the project lifecycle from pre-initiation consultancy through to project completion. This includes expertise in business case development and planning, budgeting and cost management, risk, issue and dependency management, capturing lessons learned and benefits tracking.
• Experience of managing projects and programmes in regulated energy markets and in delivering systems supporting trading and fraud risk management, infrastructure management and data conversion.
• Knowledge and experience across energy commodity classes with deep expertise in one or more of oil, natural gas, power, carbon, coal and freight and across the energy trading landscape and all the key participants including exchanges, brokers, clearers, utilities and traders.
• Deep understanding of physical and financial trading markets (both OTC and Exchange traded);
• Deep knowledge of the standards applied by leading energy traders and corporates in structuring their operations and in areas such as trade entry and processing, systems valuation and risk management, nominations/industry interfaces, operations/logistics, market data feeds, and curve management;
• Experience using Agile, Waterfall and other delivery methods to develop technical solutions using a variety of formalized tools and methodologies;
• Experience of specifying and writing technical designs for development teams and the ability to perform system testing and verify quality of work product
• A network of relevant contacts e.g. clients, system vendors, commodity specialists, trading businesses, corporate contacts;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with impact and empathy;
• Highly motivated and ambitious to grow a career at PwC.
• AAMP and PRINCE II accreditation will be highly regarded;
• Change management experience covering business cases formation, stakeholder analysis, and cutover
• Project management experience including release management, defect management, reporting, and executive reporting;
• Membership of Commodity Trading Associations & networks;
• Proven capacity to build and sustain lasting relationships, building own networks within the firm, with intermediaries and clients to support further development of client opportunities;
• Some international experience would be useful;
• Coaching and developing staff in both technical and general consulting areas.
