The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK's largest animal charities and the largest equine charity working internationally.
Our International Department is looking for a full time, permanent, International Communications Officer, to be based at our charity headquarters in Sidmouth, Devon.
There are an estimated 50 million donkeys & mules worldwide.Most are working to support livelihoods in some of the poorest and most marginalized communities in the worldand have a vital role to play in human happiness and survival.Many need care and protection from a life of suffering and neglect.
We currently work with partners in 27 countries reaching 1 million donkeys and mules and our vision is to reach many more.
As International Communications Officer you will be highly motivatedwith excellent communication skills, and an articulate writer with the ability and enthusiasm to promote and explain the incredible work we do worldwide to professional PR and fundraising audiences.
You will help to develop and deliveran international communications strategy that dovetails with the wider Donkey Sanctuary communications team . You will manage and communicate international program information and maximise its effectiveness in progressing the charity's aims.For example, you will collect and research information from our teams around the world, write a monthly international newsletter,write and edit copy and blogs for The Donkey Sanctuary website, engage with social media, work with other communication professionals, and explore new avenues for extending our audience.
You must have a journalism or equivalent degree in a related subject, and/or equivalent professional experience along with boundless energy and enthusiasm. Experience in animal welfare, animal or social science will give you a distinct advantage.
This position is based in Sidmouth, Devon;an area of 'outstanding natural beauty' however there will be some international travel to projects outside of Europe as required.
