We are seeking to appoint an ambitious committed Health and Safety Manager who has demonstrable experience of working within the rail industry. The candidate will have the credibility and experience to help in the astonishing growth that we are experiencing. The Health and Safety team continues to grow with the business and our focus on providing a safety conscious environment is undiminished despite our dramatic increase in size. This is a country-wide opportunity with a broad remit.

As the Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for further developing our internal systems, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems for our deployed Utility Rail teams and also be able to contribute to the Health and Safety team as a whole. We expect you to have astute commercial awareness and the ability to incorporate commercial principals to all health and safety requirements and processes.

Health and Safety Manager - Duties will include:
o Ensure the company remains compliant with new and existing H&S legislation
o Carry out site inspections and audits to assess compliance
o Prepare risk assessment, method statement for all rail associated works in relation to vegetation amangement and clearance
o Work with Contracts Managers, Administrators and Field Teams to ensure they have the timely, accurate issue of documentation prior to commencing works
o Attend training meetings and workshops, helping to prepare behavioral programmes
o Support further development to our existing H&S systems, including 18001, 14001, CHAS and compliance with third party audits
o Incorporate any necessary changes into templates and base documents
o Help reduce the number of H&S incidents to zero accidents
o Other tasks as set and deemed appropriate by the Director of Health and Safety

Health and Safety Manager - Knowledge and Experience:
o Minimum of 1 year's Railway industry experience
o Knowledge of industry standards
o PTS certification
o Minimum of 2 years auditing experience
o Four to five years experience in a similar role with an increase in levels of responsibility
Demonstrate continual professional development; keeping up to date with new Health and Safety legislation
Broad understanding and experience of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and Codes of Practice.
Possess first-hand experience of a basic range of horticultural techniques
Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
Ability to prioritise workload and balance demands from numerous sources to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met

o NEBOSH (essential)
o University Degree (preferable)
