Reporting directly to the Internal Firm Services (IFS) Human Capital (HR) Leader, you will work directly with Business Unit Leaders (BULs) and the Business Unit teams and play a lead role in the development and implementation of commercial HR solutions and delivery of HR services in line with the overall business and firm strategy. You will work in close partnership with other expert teams utilising appropriate HR knowledge and strategies, drawing on the skills and resources required to support Business Unit decision making.
We are happy to consider applications from candidates wishing to work either full time or on a part time (4 day per week) basis.
About the role
Change and Strategic Human Capital (HC) Consulting:
• Lead the people elements of any business unit change programmes and projects • Work with the BUL to develop and prioritise delivery of the firm's people strategy within the Business Unit (BU) • Identify strategic and operational people strategy objectives (i.e. that align with the balanced scorecard) and cascade and communicate these to key stakeholders • Provide the ‘business’ conscience into HC to ensure interventions align, support and help to deliver business strategy • Ensuring BU activity is aligned to the wider LoS and "One Firm" strategy, mitigating the risk that BU activities conflict with the One Firm strategy
HC Services:
• Ensure that all HC policy and process activity is effectively delivered into the BU • Maintain an overview of ER issues and trends in the BU • Provide advice and intervention to the business on complex employee relations issues such as disciplinary, grievances (mainly senior cases or emerging trends when asked) • Utilise HC reports to challenge and create insights to support decision making and escalation of service quality issues to appropriate expert team and HCS leaders • Provide feedback to HC Services on the quality and appropriateness of reports received
People Development:
• Working in close partnership with the business unit and the Talent and People Development expert team / Technical Training to ensure that technical / non-technical development needs and performance measures are holistically assessed and delivered for strategic alignment to BU strategy • Work to create an environment of continued professional development ensuring individual and team performance is managed effectively • Ensure effective identification, intervention and action plans are implemented across the spectrum of the People Management model with full integration across reward and development • Coach or ensure appropriate coaching is provided to the BUL and other senior partners / directors to support their short and long term development needs
Talent Management:
• Lead the local processes / interventions required to attract, develop and retain key talent in the business units
• Work with the BUL and Talent and People and Development expert team to drive and influence the business in line with the firm wide talent management strategy
• Enable the accurate identification of critical roles and work with the People Managers to create / develop a strong pipeline of successors
• Take a lead role in supporting the Chair of the business unit Talent Groups and support Director candidates and input into the Director promotion process
• Create and track succession and development plans for key roles; identify any diversity related issues and work with the Diversity expert team to address them
• Embed the focus of mobility and diversity as key aspects of the talent management agenda
Reward Management:
• Ensure the BUL has accurate and timely quantitative understanding of the reward strategy (including market practice and trends) relevant to their business unit, working closely with the LoS HC Leader and Reward expert team
• Support and facilitate ratings moderation reviews with BUL and BU senior management in line with the centrally defined activity and support and communicate local annual salary/bonus review process.
• Ensure effective benchmarking processes are applied by HC Services enabling effective distribution of reward budgets
Recruitment & Mobility:
• Have input to the development and maintenance of the BU manpower and resourcing plan, working with Resourcing and Finance
• Support the delivery of manpower and resourcing plans and the promotion of mobility both within the BU and identify opportunities outside of the BU
• Act as the conduit link to the expert team for Recruitment
• Provide advice to BUL to assist them in designing an appropriate mix of resource for the BU and wider LoS strategy
Work with the Diversity & Engagement expert team to:
• Identify diversity and engagement related trends and assist with the development of practical solutions to address them
• Define and implement value add solutions that support the diversity strategy, policy and initiatives, ensuring they live and breathe in the business
