Global Category Manager (Indirect Procurement)



About the role:

Is responsible for the sourcing or execution of materials, products or services of a specified area, e.g. IT (software, hardware, mobile devices), logistics, professional services. Manages suppliers of one or more categories. Works with other organizations to ensure that the material or service meets pre-determined quality, technology, supply and cost criteria.

  • Global responsibility in one of the above mentioned categories
  • Is responsible for the sourcing of services of specified area by creating excellent supplier base with the best terms
  • Responsibility for creation and/or implementation, maintenance and execution of category strategy in responsibility area
  • Responsible to develop end to end demand management concepts considering total cost approach in close alignment with internal stakeholders
  • Works in cross-functional teams/virtual teams across categories and category groups to ensure optimization of end to end processes according total value chain
  • Introduces constant Innovation to Category by benchmarking and constant active personal development on market trends
  • Supplier base management and supplier performance management in responsibility area (act as Supplier Manager to assigned suppliers)
  • Management of contracting and pricing in responsibility area (including the negotiations)
  • Management of supplier selection process in responsibility area
  • Ensuring that activities meet all relevant regulations and legal requirements including Category Area Work Instructions
  • Market information and analysis
  • Ensures alignment, anticipates changes and drives activities based on supply market changes
  • Aware about latest trends on Automation and Process Innovation within specific segments of services or overall
  • Acts as business enabler and driver for cost improvement by monitoring cost tendencies and creating/proposing/implementing cost management measures and methodologies
  • Gets involved into stakeholder decisions about 3rd Party expenditure planning in the assigned responsibility area
  • Ensures Procurement involvement in 3rd party expenditures through involvement in procurement related decisions of the key stakeholders of the assigned business area
  • Act as an ambassador of correct procurement and purchasing methodologies and ensures usage of valid procurement tools/methodologies and governance models
  • University or college degree
  • Fluency in English
  • At least of 5 years relevant procurement experience with regional or global scope
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Relevant experience in one of the mentioned categories
  • Project management skills
