Salary: Up to 110k Base + 20% bonus + car allowance + other benefits

Are you a large team, Operational Director, who thrives in a senior leadership capacity where getting the best out of your people and offering customers an outstanding service is important to you? If so BT Openreach may have an opportunity for you as we are recruiting for a General Manager (Ops & TV).

Due to internal promotions Openreach are looking to recruit a General Manager for their National TV & Operations business within the Service Delivery business unit. As the General Manager (Ops & TV) you will be responsible for managing an FTE of approximately 1500 field engineers through approximately 8-12 direct reports on all aspects of their role in delivering a service to all of Openreach's fibre customers.

General Manager (Ops & TV) - Key Responsibilities include (But are not limited to):
•Lead a field operations business unit being part of, and jointly accountable for the success of, the end to end Openreach production environment
•Understand all external market, government and commercial conditions within your area (including commercial, business and technical strategies and drivers of both Openreach and the Communications Providers) against which you will deliver and execute operational plans
•Direct and manage delivery plans to the agreed budget, quality, forecast and timescales to ensure economic service delivery performance across a broad range of field activities
•Direct and influence continued transformation programmes that maintain efficiency and effectiveness within volume and across the whole service delivery team
•Lead, direct and inspire a large field-based workforce, responsible for their safety, wellbeing and job satisfaction in line with regulatory and legal requirements, and maintaining sustainable performance standards.
•Actively promotes and role models a safety, security and quality culture, management values and customer centric behaviours
•Develops, delivers, reviews and adjusts a local operations plan that underpins national service delivery with flexibility to meet the changing business and production environment. Specifically required to deliver in the following target areas:

1.Production output to required quantity and quality
2.Resource utilisation to agreed production schedules (e.g. KMH envelope and attendance patterns)
3.Skilled flexible workforce capable of meeting production environments

•Create and maintain a highly visible, real time, well understood view of unit and Openreach production performance, using standard tools
•Work with production planning and production management to track and adjust plans as appropriate to ensure success of the end to end production environment
•Collaborate with Production Planning and Production Management teams to drive strategic plans to deliver required business outcomes
•Work with, promote and comply to the production environment operating policies and principles
•Create, lead, engage with and direct a large workforce to drive enhanced performance, through our people agenda. This will include at all levels of the business:

1.Employee engagement
2.Talent & Succession
3.Performance leadership
4.Training & Development

•Develop, and align nationally, the testing and management of Service Contingency plans (examples include Industrial Action Contingency Plans, Severe Weather and, Cable breakdowns)
•Understand the external national and local markets to enable continuous improvement of our business and delivery for our customers
•Embraces, leads and drives sustainable business change within Openreach aligned to the customers, markets and economic conditions
•Understand and learn about failure in our business, and act to create continuous improvements, absorbing external learning and insight to drive performance and economic improvements. Be able to demonstrate that this is creating a continuous learning culture
•Jointly responsible for sustained network health and capability, improvement and stability
•Actively promotes compliance with the Openreach version of BT code of practice and its undertakings

General Manager (Ops & TV) - Minimum essential experience required:
•Proven track record in either production, transformation or operational environments
•Significant experience of leading and delivering successful change programmes, with clear evidence of ability to engage, inspire and manage change whilst delivering excellent business results
•Depth of analytical capability - able to translate complex data into business insights and drive action plans
•Understands the customer experience, market and economic conditions, and can drive and adjust operational delivery plans in real-time
•Knowledge of the different business models, and how their impact on delivery of cost, customer experience and people
•Drives high expectations and performance goals across a large employee base. A track record of identifying and developing talent for the business and driving the performance of their people.
•Drives and delivers consistent processes and procedures to improve efficiency and customer experience
•Challenges the way of doing things to develop and refine a standard operating environment
•Able to think ahead, predict outcomes and develop scenarios that proactively mitigate business impacts
•Able to collaborate and work effectively across complex and matrixed relationships utilise influencing and negotiation to reach agreement.
•High energy and personal resilience - continually champions what is right for the business, a can-do approach
•Able to apply self-learning and improvement
•Able to willing and enthusiastically comply with national policies

General Manager (Ops & TV) - Desirable experience required:
•Experience of working in Telecoms industry, or with large scale mobile or remote teams
•Depth and breadth of experience of working across a range of management functions

General Manager (Ops & TV) - Minimum essential qualifications and any desirable qualifications:
• Qualified to degree level, or appropriate management experience
• A current driving licence (essential)
• Management/Leadership qualification
