Finance Manager- IFRS9 - Swindon, City, SN38 1NW

Nationwide's Financial Reporting team is moving to the Swindon Head Office. The move means that there are opportunities across a range of finance disciplines to join and shape the development of our new team.

What do you need to know?
We think it's a simple as one, two, three.

One: We are all about delivery. For our team that means creating valuable insight, delivering high quality financial and tax reporting, making sure we have robust controls and running finance operations efficiently.

Two: We are committed to growing our expertise. Technical training (including exam support) and personal and professional development are major priorities in support of our delivery agenda.

Three: We are looking for people who are great to work with because they bring energy, dedication and a collaborative approach to work, building strong networks across our organisation to get things done.

If you are looking to develop your career and believe this change creates just the opportunity you are looking for, then contact Tim or Holly on to discuss whether you should be part of our future.
Who we're looking for
• You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA). Ideally, you'll have in-depth post qualification experience of current accounting standards such as IAS 32 and 39 as well as IFRS 7 and 13.
• In addition you'll be well versed in emerging and developing accounting and regulatory changes such as IFRS 9 or the EU-wide framework for reporting financial (accounting) data;
• It would be great if you had financial services experience but it's not essential.
You'll have the ability to quickly grasp technical problems and be able to develop commercial solutions. You'll communicate these issues and solutions in a clear and concise way to various stakeholders whether it's in reports or presentations. As this role will span across a range of departments, you'll need to be able to develop strong and effective relationships.
What you'll be doing

• Are you a talented Technical Accountant with a firm understanding of statutory or regulatory finance reporting?
• Do you excel at technical analysis, but are able to explain complex issues in business relevant terms?
• Are you able to find practical workable solutions to complex or ambiguous requirements?
If so this role could be ideal for you.

You'll be part of a new specialist team which has the responsibility for analysing and understanding the impact of major accounting standard or regulatory change to enable us to meet the new IFRS9 obligation.

You'll have the following responsibilities;
• Providing key technical input into the implementation of IFRS 9 and other key financial reporting changes.
• You'll engage with industry peers, advisors and regulators to understand the complex issues. Then using your commercial awareness, you'll strategise how to best implement the standards across the business.
• As the subject matter expert, you will support the Divisional Director in leading internal and external debates and work with other parts of the business on delivering the changes needed.
• You'll manage third parties to ensure that we receive a good quality and cost effective service,
• You will work with other Managers and Senior Managers in the team to develop the technical and managerial skills of the team.
